“Nice enough walk but not a must-do”
Reviewed August 9, 2013

We did a nice enough walk that took us around 4 hours to complete, starting at the car park to remarkable cave and then walking to Crescent Bay before walking up Mount Brown and then back to the car park.
It is quite a strange walk in a way as the paths are rarely clear, especially when walking up Mount Brown but there are piles of rocks you are expected to follow which are also very easy to lose.
There is a serious lack of signage as well which we had gotten very used to after doing several walks around New Zealand and the timing given at the car park seemed to be extremely over-estimated.
It said it would be a 4 hour return to crescent bay and we did one way in just 45mins without really putting on the gas too much.
Overall the scenery is pretty stunning, Crescent bay is a beautiful beach that would be a great place to spend the day or even just stop for lunch and the top of Mount Brown has some great views looking out towards Tasman Island. The walk to the top is a little dangerous and steep so you need to be relatively fit and have good sturdy footwear to make it to the top.

Only do as a grand tour on way to Port Arthur site.
A couple of other areas near by to see great views for photos.
