Description: We are a really cool wine bar/restaurant doing wicked wood fired pizza and seriously good bistro style meals. We use fresh seasonal local produce. Set in a small seaside town in Tasmania's deep south, we deal directly with local seafood producers, farmers and fruit and vegetable growers. The atmosphere is relaxed with great ambience, awesome music and a chilled vibe. Please call for bookings. Also during winter we have shorter trading times and a simpler menu.

“What a find!”

We were looking for some tucker before hitting the Hastings caves down the road. Just opposite the pioneers? church on the way through is this foodie oasis. Greeted with some good music, a clean space and great fresh and local seafood cooked with aplomb.
Thats all we can say......a must stop for some decent food.

“Great find!”
Reviewed March 24, 2013

We were staying in Dover for a few days and went to the Post Office for a meal on Saturday night. Lovely restaurant, cool environment with great views over the bay. Friendly efficient service and excellent pizzas -one of the best I've had. Mike's venison and duck ragout with pasta was also very good. Almost too full for dessert but the nectarines with toffee and ice-cream were scrummy and not to be missed!

Wines were reasonable and the coffee great - we will definitely be back!

“Great place”
Reviewed March 23, 2013

This is a great little restaurant/cafe with friendly helpful staff. The variety on the menu is very good and the quality of the food we had was superb. The salad was fresh and the meat cooked just the way we liked it. We ended up being the last customers but didn't feel pressured in any way to hurry up and leave.

“Superb food and wine by the open fire near the sea.”
Reviewed February 24, 2013

We were staying at Little Roaring Beach near Dover, a hidden gem in Tasmania. Went to 6985 to celebrate Cate's, a friend's birthday. Charmaine was a great host-owner, nothing too much trouble. Wine list so reasonable and I mean reasonable at $30 - 40 and lovely Tasmanian wines. I had stunning pork belly, others had duck, seafood, all fresh as.... We couldn't fit in dessert but looked at other tables and they looked beautiful. Chef came out for a chat. Great. Complimentary ports to finish a superb night. We were dropped off and taken home by a local fantastic taxi service. Definitely will return. Make sure to book and check opening times before you head down there. Plenty of cute accommodation in and around Dover. Well done from Rudi and Annette.
