Owner description: Spreyton Cider Co is the latest venture from Spreyton Fresh, the home of the finest Fresh Apple Juice since 1998. The cidery located on our working orchards was constructed in 2012 with our first bottling taking place in October 2012. Building on our expertise in producing fresh apple juice, our cider maker has produced a range of ciders that are classic examples of the cider maker’s art. The Cidery is conveniently located just 10 minutes from Devonport and the Spirit of Tasmania, and on the Cradle Country touring route to Cradle Mountain. The cidery is open daily for tastings and sales of cider, fresh juices and fruit, with fresh cherries available in season (Mid December to February).

Today we visited the Spreyton cidery - just outside Devonport - and we think no one should miss it! The tasting was superb, not only because of the fabulous cider, but also because of Damien and his amazing product knowledge and customer service. If you're leaving or arriving through Devonport then make sure you spend time at this great new place - perhaps the next big thing in Australian and especially Tasmanian products!

“On the way to Cradle Mountain”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 2, 2013 via mobile

As the previous reviewers stated a very interesting attraction to visit. The people who make the cider also make the best tasting apple juice in Australia. The dark cider is hop infused and very palatable. The bright is fresh and crisp. The serving staff blended the two which made a very special mix. Worth a visit. Also try the Wilmot Hills vineyard further on the road too!

“Local apples, flash equipment and brews an original cider drop”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 4, 2013

While the venue is free to visit, samples of the ciders and juices incur a charge.

The tasting charge also provided a full 330ml bottle of cider (5 varieties to choose from) to take away. The cider was not in production the day of the visit but the viewing window allowed the spotless production line. Information about the apples/pears used in each variety was thoroughly explained.

Especially liked was that the brewing process in the bottles is a natural one. Nice Cider!

“For drier Cider lovers”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 12, 2013

It’s a new complex, which all those who live in the area were excitedly waiting for the opening. We visited just before Christmas to see what ciders were made. On entry you are directed into a smallish tasting area, with a bar set up on the left and side, and directly in front of you is a large window for viewing the processing area, there was no processing on day we visited. There's also some tables and chairs with large umbrellas outside the entry.

When tasting the cost is $10 pp. You are given shots of all 4 ciders and the 1 Perry, after completing the tasting, you can select a stubby (small bottle) of your favourite drink to take with you. They also sell small containers of cherries; I think they were $10 a container. If you really get in to the drinking of the ciders, they also do a cheese plate for you to eat outside, at a cost of course.

As per my title, in my opinion the ciders are drier than the mainstream cider makers, personally I do like them a little sweeter. But I'm not an expert, this might come a little later on.

On leaving I chose the Classic, but I didn't mind the Perry.
