I went to Bella's for lunch with friends and ordered the seafood pasta with mussels and prawns. The dish was served in small dessert bowl which was far too small for practical eating. The mussels also still had their beards intact, which should have been removed, and the tomato based sauce had pieces of unknown white hard shell throughout it, giving an unpleasant experience akin to eating rocks. The tails were also still left on the prawns, which looks nice, but when mixed with a tomato based sauce means your fingers get covered trying to remove them.

Service: Friendly and fast, although they never got back to me on what the white shell was in the sauce. They also changed waiters half way through the meal without any explanation.

Presentation: The food we saw come out for others in our group looked good. Pity they didn't think of the practical side to eating, especially with my dish.

Summary: Devonport is known for its lack of good restaurants nowadays and Bella's keeps that trend alive. Good for a quick lunch if you don't expect too much. And avoid the seafood pasta with mussels and prawns.

Well to appreciate what's good in Devonport Eateries you have to experience the bad and Bellas surely is the winner in this category.

The decor is all over the show. The service is slow, even though there were only 2 tables, on a Sunday night and now I know why!!!!!!

My food had absolutely no taste and in some spots it was actually burnt.

The staff seem more interested in chatting to each other about their Saturday night out on the town.

With a place like this their competitors have no need to worry.

I will eat elsewhere from now on and I suggest others to folklore my lead. I mean in this day and age you have to at least attempt to offer some value ....

Eggs benedict for $15 - I should have guessed at that price it would not be good.

I waited around 15 minutes for my order to be taken then another 20 minutes for 1 plate of food. Only 8 other customers in the place at 9.30 sunday morning so should not have taken that long.

Eggs benedict was 2 peices of white toast, covered with shredded ham (fully processed and tasted disgusting) then 2 overcooked poached eggs (hard yolks) and packet hollandaise sauce.

Give it a miss.

Devonport doesn't have that many good restaurants open for lunch, especially those serving seafood. And if you are Devonport either on business or holidaying, (maybe even off the ferry?) then make an effort to stop at Bella's for lunch (or dinner, for that matter).

Don't be put off by the 'Pizza Cafe' in the name, they serve much more than Pizza and they are much more than a cafe! I ordered their veal and seafood special and it was superb.

Lovely ambience within walking distance of the main mall, not too crowded with good service.

Highly recommended.
