“Lovely place where to stay!”
Reviewed November 13, 2012

A super nice couple run the lovely place and they make you feel home straight away. They welcomed us with port wine and chocolate; clean, warm and quiet!
The owners suggests you what to do and where to go.
Please be sure you pass through here during your stay in Tassie!

Room Tip: Studio is great!

Derwen tBridge Chalets and Studios is a surprise find on the road from Hobart to Strahan. Well appointed chalets with everything you need to enjoy an overnight stay or, as we did, four nights. Attentive owners and sparkly clean and comfortable accommodation make it a stand-out on a trip to Tassie.

Room Tip: We have now stayed in two chalets, a one bedroom and a two bedroom. Not much to tell between them...

The chalets were very comfortable and clean. The owner went out of his way to advise us on what to see and where to stay in Tasmania. I can recommend this establishment to anyone. Lottie in South Africa

We stayed for one night in October on our way to Strahan. It was sleeting and snowing lightly by the time we arrived in the early evening and we were walked to our cosy cabin by John, who was very welcoming and enthusiastic about the area. I was worried we might not be warm enough, but that definitely wasn't the case - the electric heater was very effective and unlike some other places we have stayed in Tasmania, the heating in the bathroom was also effective. There were also electric blankets on the bed. The kitchenette facilities were excellent for a small cabin, with a good quality saucepan and frypan, allowing us to easily cook dinner. There were some thoughtful extras like salt and a pepper grinder, alfoil, grater etc. The port, chocolates and plunger coffee were gratefully received as well. The T.V. is small, but we didnt care as we didn't watch it! John's advice about things to see in the area was spot on and we enjoyed his recommendations thoroughly. I would definitely recommend this to anyone traveling through the area.

Arriving at Derwent Bridge Chalets was like visiting old friends ..warm fire welcomed us to our room and then the delivery of carafe of port and lovely conversation with John our host. We felt so lucky to have found this place and immediately booked a return visit. John went above and beyond (as a good friend would) to secure us reservations in Strahan and to recommend hikes along the way. If I wasn't thousands of miles away, I would be a regular guest. Thank you for not only exceeding expectation but setting a gold standard . Paula & Bob

Room Tip: We stayed in 2 different " chalets" and both were great. Fully equipped kitchen , french p...

Wish we could have stayed longer!

We thought it was really nice and that the chalet photos didn't do it justice.

Lovely couple, very helpful people who run it. Thank you for the coffee pot, port and chocolates.

We pre- booked a chalet for 2 nights, either side of our stay in Strahan. Only 300km between Hobart and Strahan, not much by our UK roads but we were advised beforehand to split the journey and driving the route it sure made sense ! John and Louis made us welcome and there was a roaring fire going in our chalet. It was clean and well equiped. The bed was comfortable and it was quite an experience to listen to all the birds and night noises ! All the logs we wanted for the stove, not rationed like some places I am told. We were hoping to see an echidna but the only animal spotted in the dusk was a rabbit ! Lots of birds though. My only negative comment is that together with a separate charge for our buffet breakfast it proved to be the most expensive accomodation in our visit to Tasmania.
