We decided to stay the night as the lake is beautiful so we waited at reception to book into an unpowered camp site for 1 night, the poor girl on reception had no help and was obviously under pressure and mentioned she had been on duty for more than 10 hours! The sites are not level, it was hard to get our rather large motorhome to feel stable. The amenities are awful, unclean and $1 for a shower, which is not mentioned on booking in, so we were searching for $1 coins, when we went for a shower later in the evening. Might be helpful to mention this when booking in, as this was the first campsite that we had to pay and this was day 10 of our trip! The following morning we found out why the showers are so dirty, 2 girls ( who looked like backpackers) walked in with 1 mop - no bucket, 1 spray bottle and spent not even 5 minutes in both the mens and ladies amenities. I went in to brush my teeth as they were leaving and it didn't look or smell any different to before they went in. Lake St Clair is a beautiful place but they need to train staff in all areas and give them support.

We spent a couple of nights at the Lake St.Clair camper-van site and had dinner in the lodge. We took the small ferry up the lake and walked on the trails through the woods. Everything was well organized and the staff were helpful.

For an amazing tourist attraction (Lake St Clair & walks), the camping ground is poorly set up. The camp sites (especially the powered ones) are jam packed against each other so you can have a conversation with your neighbours whether you want to or not. Getting a larger caravan into these would be difficult unless you arrive early/late morning. The toilet block for the powered campsites is situated amongst the cabins that have their own in house toilet/shower facilities for heaven's sake. And it's not cheap! Showers cost $1 for 6 minutes. Not begrudging $1, but 6 minutes (??come on??) and you can't even turn the water off if you finish early. What a waste of water. I walked out after 3 minute and had to leave the water running!! 4 minute showers are adequate timing. For the unpowered sites, there is a camp kitchen and their toilet/shower amenities are much closer and better placed.

$45 per person per night in a three bed cabin without linnen. $7,5 extra for linen. Freezing cold and very VERY smelly in the cabin. We left the heater on while we went hiking but one of the staff turned it off. So we came back in a freezing cold cabin. I do not recommend this place to stay overnight.

We stayed in an unpowered site right next to the toilets. The sites are quite small and crowded, so you can hear everything (especially the slamming of car doors and the crunch of tyres on gravel early in the morning). There was also no privacy, with almost every site looking directly into all the other sites. The cabins looked great though. The setting itself is lovely, with a beautiful lake and lots of wildlife (some very loud birds though). It was also very handy to have the restaurant nearby, though we didn't use it. The amenities were basic and the camp kitchen didn't have much more than BBQs that I could see. The shower runs off $1 coins for 5-6 minutes, which is fine as long as you have the coins. Overall, I would've preferred to have stayed in a cabin to make the most of the experience, however we were on a road-trip with our camper.
