Cradle Mountain Hotel

Nothing to complain about the room: nice, wide, clean, with a nice view on the forest (plenty of animals looking for food. If you look out of the window during the night, you can see a lot of wallabies), with a confortable bathroom. Just a bit cold because there's only a small electrical radiator to warm up the room. To make up for it, there are electric blankets.
It's just the rest of the hotel that's not worth the money you pay.
There's no heating system (just a few fireplaces, but they're not enough when outside it's snowing...). We've been at the restaurant (quite expensive, but you have no other choice) for dinner and we almost freezed! Clients had to contend for the little electric heater blowing hot air on their hibernated feet.
Not to be recommended in winter (unless you come from Alaska), but I guess pleasant in summer, especially for its good position, but definitly not good value for money.

We have stayed at this hotel twice now and would go back again without hesitation.
The rooms are a great size and the beds are very comfortable.
I love the fact that you have your own little balcony that the wildlife come right up to..
The only fault is that they need to upgrade the heating facilities, in winter a tiny wall heater is not sufficient.
The staff are absolutely great, we got there at 10:30am as my partner was feeling sick and the receptionist did everything she could to get us into a room ( if you read this thanks heaps)

We stayed here for one night in July and couldn't be happier with the service we received. Our 2 year old has coeliac disease and the staff did everything possible to make our stay as smooth as possible. The chef had prepared a special gluten free kids meal complete with garlic bread. The following morning, the chef came out and spoke with us to tell us everything that was suitable for our son to eat. We were extremely impressed and grateful that we were so well catered for. The room was lovely. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend to anyone.

We visited the château and must say firstly that the Tassie Tiger exhibit was fantastic, really worth a look. The food in the restaurant however, on two occasions, was such a let down. On each occasion their was one staffer only. At this time of year (August) that's not a real problem as there are very few diners, but their lack of enthusiasm and rudeness is just plain annoying. Why do so many hospitality workers think to work in an expensive restaurant you need to act like a tool? After expending quite a bit of energy on walks / playing in the snow we were all starving and truly it's the only reason we managed to eat as much of our meals as we did. My 'medium rear' steak was beyond well done and nearly required a chainsaw to cut it, and while I don't mind a simple accompaniment to a great steak, this was a terrible steak and serving it with mash and one roasted tomato was insufficient for $29 in a 'fine dining' restaurant. The meal was garnished with those little sweet potato crisps which are supposed to be 'crisp' not cold, oily and chewy -yuck! The roasted tomato was obviously prepped so early that it was closer to semi-dried, leaving the mash which was salty and resembled hospital food flavours and yet was the highlight of the meal. All in all, over-priced, under-loved food with little atmosphere and dodgy service.

Room Tip: Not all 'room fields' were relevant.

Cradle Mountain is such a beautiful place. My husband and I decided to go here for a holiday. We did have a great time tracking around Cradle Mountain and Dove Lake, our highlight was the snow and how beautiful the mountain side looked covered in white. The Chateau was quite a lovely place to stay and I used TripAdvisor to check out how good of a place it is and didn't find the reviews to be too bad. I did leave the Chateau feedback that the menu for their restaurant Grey Gum needed a little more variety and that the time it took to get our meal the first night we were there needed to be a little quicker. Unfortunately one thing I forgot to mention while I was there was to please ensure that the cleaners were a little quieter when cleaning the rooms at 6.50am each morning. That disappointed the stay for us as we couldn't get a good rest before our day activities.. Other than that our stay was pleasant :) and the staff are very polite.

Having been to Cradle Mountain National Park many times, we decided we would spend two nights at the Chateau. Our stay coincided with their "Christmas in July" buffet dinner function - this proved to be the best value of our 2 night stay ! Very enjoyable & plenty of food - a Dessert Table that defies description - wonderful !! Our room (standard room) was nicely appointed, quite large and a good bathroom & shower, plenty of hot water. However the standard room had a view mainly of the carpark (not much bush). - The A la Carte menu was for us a little disappointing, expensive and limited, and drinks from the bar were to our view also somewhat expensive - but, it is a Tourist venue, so this is to be expected I guess. Every staff member we met were friendly, helpful and very happy to assist with any request. Breakfast was either a Continental @ $18 or the full monty @ $25. Holiday & weekend stay packages are available, but you need to be quick as they seem to book out very fast.

Room Tip: Rooms numbering in the 50"s (i.e.50, 51, 52 etc.) overlook the rain forrest walk, are split lev...

We stayed here for 3 nights from the 10th July, this is the second time in 6 months we have stayed here and found the rooms to be great, yes the heating could have been better but I have found that to be the case in most places we stayed. I was up early due to wanting to take photos and was lucky enough to have snow there while we where there and temps as low as -2 degree. The rooms where clean and tidy well serviced and the staff that we had contact with could not have been more helpful. We had the pizza one night that came with a free beer and the pizza was lovely.
I would stay there again.
