We stayed for two nights during our tour of Tasmania - good service - good location for Cradle mountain and the National park. Rooms well fitted and presented, friendly staff. Beds even fitted with electric blankets.

Excellent service. Great views. Great food. Friendly staff. What else can one ask for? Value for money! In two words, Just perfect! Kudos to the service: we were treated like royals! I'd love to come back again and again.

Very disapointing and being so far from anywhere there was not much we could do about it. When we arrived we were told there was a wedding being held in the one of two restaurants and the other was booked out. The only other option was room service which was overpriced and would take up to 45min delivery. We couldn't use the bar as it was being used by wedding party. So back to our room for cuppa but no sugar supplied for tea and coffee. $15 to use the slowest wi if in Tasmania. The weather was bad and we wanted to do a walk in the morning and check out late. But we were not able to do that without paying an extra forty dollars on top of the $165 for room plus wifi ker-ching ker-Ching. The place is set out like an aged care facility. I expected to see the nurse doing rounds after lights out. Over priced and not what we expected. Wish we had chosen somewhere else

My family and I consisting of three adults checked into this establishment on 15 September 2012 for 2 nights. We booked through Pure Tasmania Website with the intention of staying at the Cradle Mountain Lodge. On arrival we inquired that the lodge had changed in appearance and were not informed that it was not the lodge. On arrival at our designated rooms we were in horror they were like a motor inn type accommodation with very thin walls and extremely hard beds. On complaint to the service desk we were met with negativity and when asked for a refund not only for the first night but for the second night as well. On speaking to management we received even further negativity sighting the riot act in regards to the cancellation of booking. No sympathy whatsoever even though we had booked all our accommodation through Pure Tasmania Website which is known as Federal. I even contacted the Pure Tasmania hotline and received a negative result. Please be aware that this is not the Cradle Mountain Lodge but an alternative location 4 km before the lodge. We immediately booked the Cradle Mountain Lodge for the second night which was fantastic in the 5 star range where this property is about 2 star but charges similar rates. This property will not install a roll out bed to accommodate a third adult in the same room even though there was ample room where the lodge was extremely obliging in all regards. i INFORMED MANAGEMENT THAT THEY WOULD BE RECEIVING A NEGATIVE REVIEW ON TRIP ADVISOR BUT SHOWED LITTLE INTEREST. On speaking to staff at the lodge it appears that a lot of people have made the same mistake so BE AWARE..

Room Tip: Choose Alternative Accommodation at the Lodge for the Same Price.

The chateau is about 9 years old which makes it the most reent addition to the line of properties leading into cradle mountain. Like all properties it has a very tranquil outlook with wildlife literally at your door. Only one restaurant was open (grey gum) since it was still winter. Quality and pricing of food for both breakfast and dinner was very good considering the remoteness of the location. All restaurant staff were very always very helpful and accomodating - this was a standout for me.
This is actually a very large property with a gallery and conference rooms in addition to the hotel itself. Within the hotel section itself there are multiple areas with fireplaces and lounge chairs (and books and magazines) which provides some areas to relax outside of your own room. All this helps with providing some alternative options in the event of inclement weather which is common in this area.
Rooms were comfortably furnished and clean with a wall panel heater in each room.
The only "gripe" I have is that they charge for Internet access. I agree that users should pay for wireless Internet access. The hotel also provides two public use computers but charges $1 per 10 mins for internet access. While this is not exorbitant I would expect that they can at least provide one hour of Internet access per night of stay. This is important because you may need to make onward bookings or check-in for your flight - especially because there is no mobile coverage in the area. I think this is a small issue but it would really complete the overall package at this otherwise excellent property.
