Tasmanians are a friendly lot. When we arrived at our Cottage (Lanceolata) the fire was already prepared for us and the cottage was warm. The next day we went for a walk in constant rain for over 2 hours around Dove Lake, came back very wet and they had topped the fire up when they cleaned the room, fantastic! It was so warm and cosy. We felt great. The bed was really comfy and the kitchen was well appointed. We really loved our couple of nights there and it wasn't enough. Fantastic place run by friendly considerate people who know what the customer needs and they provide it. Thank you and well done.

The huts are nice and practical with a good size kitchen. The location is great for hiking as you just walk across the road to get the shuttle bus up to Dove Lake but note that there are no real walks starting from your door. Be careful if heading in the winter, the lady at the desk said we wouldn't have made it up the drive in our MX5 if we were there a few days before due to snow.

We only cooked once and went to Cradle Lodge which has a decent tavern for meals. Its a bit far to walk when cold so you have to drive which i'm not a fan of after a big day hiking.

All cabins are far enough apart to not notice anyone else and was very quiet. The fridge was very loud at night as everything else was so quiet but not a deal breaker.

We've stayed in more romantic cabins but for the location, fireplace and value compared to a standard hotel room its hard to beat.

many thanks to Ian and Sharon who manage the property - they were wonderful hosts. Stayed an extra night there as so special - lots of friendly wallabies and wombats also. I'll be back!

We stayed in the gorgeous Telopea cabin - kitchen, lounge & bedroom arranged in an L-shape, and separate room with bathroom including spa in remaining corner. Clean, well presented, plenty of chopped wood for stove fire (plus kindling and firefighters). Was actually a welcome change from hotel rooms that all look pretty similar after a while. Didn't miss room service at all!

Warmest welcome of our Tassie travels, way too much food provided in generous breakfast provisions, and if you want to see nature up close - it's on your doorstep, literally. In 3 days we saw pademelons, Bennet's wallabies and wombats (including a mother and baby) right by the cabin. Cradle Mt walks are very close, with shuttle buses going from nearby Visitor Centre. Also recommend Devils@Cradle 2 mins drive up the road.

Will definitely return. 3 nights here just wasn't enough. Beautiful setting, especially for nature-lovers. If you're looking for pampering though, you'd be better off at one of the nearby resorts.

We stayed at "Buttongrass" cottage and were very happy with our short stay.
A good selection of wines at reception helped keep as warm, as did the open fireplace. Very conveniently located opposite the Cradle Mountain shuttle bus depot. Caretakers were also very friendly and helpful. Couldn't have asked for a better start to our honeymoon.

We stayed in Pandini for 2 nights and it was fantastic. The gas heating was a real treat and as we arrived after dark, it was great to have our cabin heated when we arrived. The location is great and not far from many walks and the park entrance. The staff were fantastic and could not be more helpful. Definitely will be returning again in the future.

We had a fantastic 5 night stay in the Tallow-wood cabin with our 2 sons aged 12 and 14 who absolutely loved it! The Tallow-wood has a queen bed in one bedroom, and a second queen bed in the family room, so our boys did have to share a bed. The beds were comfortable and the nights were quiet and peaceful. The cabin has a huge bathroom with spa bath and toilet, and also a separate toilet near the rear bedroom. Lovely log fire, electric blankets on both beds, roomy kitchen equipped with full sized fridge, microwave, stove/oven, everything you would need to cook your own meals and a breakfast bar with beautiful views out the kitchen windows! The provisions for the fire were topped up each day and the cabin was serviced. It is advisable to buy your own provisions before you get to Cradle Mountain. We saw plenty of wildlife around the cabin, with visits from possums, birds, wombats and wallabies. The cabin was secluded and private but also close enough to the Cradle Mountain Visitor Centre to give you easy access to information, purchase your National Park Pass (we bought a car pass for $60 which gave us unlimited access for 8 weeks, which worked out better value than paying per person per day, especially if you plan to move on to other areas of Tasmania), and catch the shuttle bus into the National Park. We did many walks in the area, short scenic walks and the Dove Lake Circuit, which all had abundant wildlife and breathtaking scenery. The staff at Highlanders were friendly and helpful too. We are definitely planning to come back!
