Pros: This accommodation is truly well located, within easy walking distance of the Cradle Mountain National Park visitors' center, and the cabins are spacious and comfortable (if somewhat Spartan).

Cons:

1) Despite their representation that rooms would be "serviced" every other day, maid service was non-existent. Our towels were changed on the second day of our stay, and that was it.

2) This hotel charges outrageous fees for local phone calls, and fails to disclose such fees in any of its written materials. We made 4 short local phone calls, none longer than 5 minutes (in fact, two of the four calls were to numbers that had been disconnected -- that's how short they were), and yet we were charged more than $10 in "phone use fees" upon check out. There was no manager on hand with whom to dispute these bloated charges, and of course they have your credit-card imprint anyway, so you really don't have a leg to stand on in such a case.

Why do so many hotels think it is good business to pick guests' pockets with poorly disclosed, petty fees? We had a wonderful time in Cradle Mountain National Park, but this hotel's usurious phone-use charges left a sour taste in our mouths on the way out.

My husband and I stayed in a two bedroom cabin for two nights in March whilst visiting Cradle Mountain. The cabins are very well equipped, very warm which we appreciated as it was cold, wet and miserable outside when we arrived. Heated towel rails which were great for drying off some underwear we washed. They also have a lovely Lounge Area adjoining the reception area where you are welcome to spend time. They have beer, wine and soft drinks (I think) available and even cheese and biscuits which you write down on an honour system and pay for at the end of your stay - we thought this was extremely enjoyable as we were there with another couple and spent late afternoon in there both days of our stay. They have a lovely fire and cd's available for playing and we thoroughly enjoyed having a drink, cheese and biscuits and listening to a bit of music before going out to dinner. A lovely outlook from the big glass windows, in fact the 'wilderness on your doorstep'.

The premium chalets are a good size, well equipped, warm and extremely comfortable – even luxurious - but you don’t lose the feeling of being in a remote and natural environment. The resort blends in well with the surrounding bush. They offer the perfect get away from it all experience. The location right next to the visitor centre is convenient. We were treated to Wallabies and Possums on our balcony. The beds are huge we had a great night's sleep. I would highly recommend this option - my only concern was the that it was quite expensive but we were there on a highly demanded weekend.

We had a standard cabin which would accommodate 3. The facilities were good and the only criticism would be that the third person would have to sit on a dining chair to watch tv as there was only a 2 seater couch.

We stayed here for 2 nights during our tour of Tasmania in February and found it to be quite sufficient for our needs. It had a very well equipped kitchen which we didn't use but it's nice to have everything there in case you want it. The bed was comfortable, the locations was incredibly quiet (big plus for me) and private.

I believe they have different standards of accommodation and ours was just the basic cabin, so not a lot of frills, but quite adequate and enjoyable.

We recently had 1 night in a spa cottage-unit 34 as part of our holiday around Tasmania. It was clean, private and cosy. Wonderful place to stay being close to information centre where you catch the shuttle buses to do any walks, much more convenient than driving. Staff friendly and found the facilities in the cabin adequate to cook with. Compact kitchen and bbq on deck. View from spa looks out through the wilderness. Even watched a wombat from our deck. Would certainly recommend others to stay here to get a true feeling of Cradle Mountain.

Room Tip: Stayed in cabin 34-very private
