Stayed here for (unfortunately) only one night after a hard cycle from Rosebery. Happily arrived to find we had been upgraded to a King Billy suite. Amazing room with a huge bathroom with spa bath - initially no hot water but quickly remedied after a phone call to reception - within minutes a staff member arrived (with a complimetary plate of canapies) to let us know a wallaby had accidentally switched it off! The hot tub on the deck was fantastic - very private and piping hot, soothed the aching muscles no end! We were lucky enough to see a platypus swimming in the pool outside the lodge, then enjoyed the free 'enchanted forest' walk with a very informative guide on local fauna, before dinner. Dinner was exceptional, as was the breakfast buffet. Highlight was relaxing in the hot tub after dinner and being visited by a very friendly brush tailed possum! He hung around our veranda for ages and even let us gently stroke his fur!! Unforgettable experience.

We only had one night to stay here but it was bliss. The staff were friendly and helpful and we were upgraded to a spa room which was gorgeous.
One thing we really liked about this hotel was that they didn't use their remote location to force people to eat in their expensive restaurant. There is a cheerful pub with amazing views which provides some delicious alternatives.
Would definitely stay here again.

The woodland setting with the animals roaming through the grounds (pademelons and wombats!) makes Cradle Mountain Lodge a very special place indeed.

Our cabin was very comfortable, well furnished, and practical ~ with a spa bathroom, log burning stove, kitchenette and mud room.

The lodge itself is in a vintage style with a friendly and helpful staff and the restaurant food and wine is of a high standard.

The lodge is shabby chic with fine dining and the breakfast buffet is quantity rather than quality but all in all it works well for travellers to enjoy both the great outdoors and a romantic hideaway.

This trip to Cradle Mountain - Lake St Clair was the highlight of our stay in Tasmania and we hope to return!

Beautiful location . We went on a number of bush walks in the area. Our cabin was a great place for a romantic few days. We saw a number of native animals around the lodge. The staff were excellent and the food was good.

Okay, so it's important to accept you will pay for the pleasure of this experience, however, you will enjoy it, whether you think it good value or not.
A mate and I were staging to do the Overland Track - this is a great venue for doing this. Big rooms, and free transfers to the Ranger station. We decided to live the high life by having wine and cheese tasting (very pleasant, in the cellar), and doing the fly fishing tutorial (we're not fishers exactly but it was a bit of fun). We found that we got to meet other guests very easily and had a great night, eating in the pub.
The next morning was the breakfast buffet. This was fine, but probably a little under par for a place like Peppers. And the coffee was decidedly average. But there was ample and the food was well prepared and well presented. And it's quite nice to settle down after brekky with a paper in front of one of several fires.
All in all a great experience. We saw a wombat on the way to our room, a platypus in the pond, an echidna crossing the road, and a wallaby before we had even left the site. So I guess you would call that positive!!
