Have had breakfast once which I regarded as average. We thought we would try lunch. We were disappointed in the menu as we were expecting something a bit more creative and interesting given the elaborate decor and what we had heard about this place. I'm also not that comfortable about paying for meals before I've eaten and the prices warrant table service. Lunch menu is standard calamari salad, chicken parma, schnitzel (why do that to Nichols chicken?) steak sandwich, wedges, nachos, roast of day etc. Same can be had at any pub bistro or other lunch place. We found the nachos was grilled or baked till dried up. Did not enjoy the Guacamole- it tasted like the mass produced commercial stuff. Sour cream was minimal dollops around the plate. Steak sandwich was not served on what I know as sourdough. Maybe, again commercially produced stuff...not sure. Steak was about 5mm thick, dry as the Sahara and tiny. Chips were soggy and also appeared to be standard commercial frozen ones. Roast of the day was roast chicken which was ok however vegetables seemd to be deep fried, not baked. None of us finished our meals...and we were hungry. The milkshake was all froth and about half a cup of milk. We had to request table water. We noticed the amount of security camera's around the place. Then upon reading other TA reviews we have noticed that the owner used footage from those camera's to identify a reviewer and make comment on the physical appearance of the reviewer and the amount of food they ordered/ate. Our observations are consistent with that particular reviewer as well as other recent average reviews. Anyway, given his/her comments the owner appears happy with food quality and current patronage. We won't be back to endure average food and to be filmed.
