Wow, this was so unexpected! We booked in the day before - an unplanned night, as we were fleeing from a bad choice further along the north west coast. It was the peak season and we couldn't find anything anywhere, except for here.
We arrived, the manager carried our bags up, and we were shown to our rooms. Spectacular, very stylish, something really special! Double volume ceilings, double glazing to keep the Burnie buzz out (not noisy at all), a choice of breakfast cereals, a vast selection of teas and coffee.
We had a most pleasant stay - very comfortable, very clean, central location close to beach, restaurants and all that Burnie has to offer.
I won't hesitate in recommending this as the best place to stay when in the North West.

We had a two night stay at the Ikon Hotel & what a wonderful hotel it is.

Tracey (manager) met us on arrival & I must admit I was a little disappointed when we had to enter the hotel thru a restaurant which was quite busy at the time. But once inside the secure door that led to the stairs of the hotel my misgivings disappeared as it was just amazing.

The luxurious carpet, art work & lovely Italian leather lounges in the hallways were an indication of what was to come when we entered our room.

The room was HUGE. You could live permanently in the room we had. It was open plan & had a large sitting area with leather lounge, lounge chair & a large round leather coffee table. This table had a leather insert which when removed revealed a lovely glass top. A large flat screen TV was mounted on the wall. We also had a table & four chairs & a kitchen with ample crockery, cutlery, glassware etc for four guests.

The bathroom was also large with a double shower & beautfiul tiled floor. Four bath towels were provided.

Then there was the bedroom - great bed, a desk, a lovely leather chair & footstool, another large wall mounted TV & then there was THAT MIRROR. I have never seen a mirror as large (too large to be mounted on the wall) so it rests against the wall - a great feature.

You have access to balconies & make sure you walk around the hallways just to see the art work as well as the work that has gone into the stair railings. Another must is to see the magnificent table which is used as the Manager's desk during the day but is cleared off each night & enables you to see the wonderful timber & craftmanship that has gone into making this table. I understand this was made by a Tasmanian craftsman.

As stated in other reviews secure parking is available nearby.

The hotel is situated in the heart of Burnie & we certainly look forward to a return stay.

The Ikon Hotel is hidden away on the upper stories of a beautifully restored heritage building - and is worth seeking out.

The care that has gone in to the gradual renovation is obvious and the results are to the benefit of guests.

The rooms in our light and bright apartment were giant. Double height ceilings, plush carpet and well chosen furnishings (including one of the most comfortable king beds I have slept in) were all appreciated.

Our apartment had all the facilities we required (and more) and placed us near the dead centre of small, quiet, lovely Burnie.

Staff were ready to check us in and provided secure underground car parking. The owner, Steve, is also the Mayor of Burnie (the kind of coincidental double-up that you might expect in a charming seaside town) and he played host well.

We'd definitely stay at the Ikon again. It is a step above everything else we have tried in Burnie for an annual pilgrimage for a road race and it was a welcome addition to the accommodation on offer.

We stayed the night before the Burnie 10. What a great find. We hadn't made a booking and I was a bit put off by the fact it was above the pub but we found upstairs to be beautiful and stylish with lovely details. The Owner was very welcoming and has clearly put a great deal of time and effort into the hotel and the massive french poster artworks are a lovely touch. As other reviewers have said the rooms and the bathrooms are huge. The decor is well thought out. Grey and white, comfy, not chintzy. Secure off street parking is provided. The minibar is the cheapest I have ever come across ( $4.95 for a half bottle of wine ) and the breakfast goods supplied were a nice touch. Being centrally located there was a little bit of street noise but it didn't bother us at all. Had a great night's sleep and ran a PB in the race the next day. Would certainly plan to stay here again next time we are up.

Hidden above restaurant is this gem, the rooms are excellent and service superb. Being in Burnie for 4 weeks on business I cannot praise the efforts by the owners and staff to develop this boutique hotel.

Excellent modern hotel on top of a restaurant in the centre of burnie. Rooms are huge, just to give you a fair indication, I have stayed in motel rooms the size of the bathroom!! Newly renovated, clean, quiet... Perfect place for a business visit. Nice cafe across the road where you can have breakfast and bill it onto your room. Cheapest mini bar I have ever encountered in Australia. The hotel is above a restaurant which sells great food. This will become my base in burnie for future visits.

My husband and I stayed at the Ikon Hotel for one night on Sunday. We were warmly greated by Tracy and given the guided tour to our upstairs room on the 1st Floor.
The room was huge. We had a lovely sitting area with beautiful leather chairs, a heater and TV, a large bathroom with double shower with excellent water pressure, soft white towels, lovely toiletries, a stocked kitchenette area with table and chairs, large assortment of tea's n coffee's and continental breakfast supplies. The bedroom area with a king size Tempur bed. (so comfortable!!) another TV so you can snuggle and watch in bed. It was absolute luxury throughout.

There is a secure car park just across the road which saves the worry of finding parking and your car's safety.

The Hotel is in an excellent location in the centre of town within walking distance to shops, resturants, movie theatre, and the beach. There is even a resturant down stairs which is open for Lunch and Dinner. We had a lovely lunch there and found it to be good value with friendly service.

I was concerned about the traffic noise especially as we live on a semi rural property and wake to the sounds of frogs and birds. I mentioned this to Tracy after reading the previous Tripadvisor review. All the rooms have now had additional sound proofing treatment and we were not disturbed by any traffic noise.

The windows in our room had the timber venetian blinds which did littlle to stop the street lighting outside. The room was light enough that you didnt need to turn lights on to navigate your way to the bathroom. This did little to ensure a good nights sleep. Hopefully they will be fixing this soon.

My only suggestion would be request a room that already has the Block out blinds fitted.

We would certainly stay at the Ikon Hotel next time we come to Burnie
