It's hard to review a place that that says it's open but when you arrive you find that it's closed to all but resident guests. A totally bizarre experience that involved phoning to see if they were open and having no-one answer the call and then on arrival, being told very tersely that we weren't welcome! The silver lining - we discovered the Bruny Bistro!

Having read the reviews, but more importantly having been told by a local we were fishing with last tonight on the jetty at Adventure Bay that this was the place to go for good coffee, we decided that we'd give it a go. So, so glad that we did. Rustic surroundings and coffee and cake to die for - what more could you ask for. Hubby had the scones with cream and strawberry jam and I had the blackberry and syrup cake both of which were delicious - yes of course we shared. The coffee was also very good and service was with a smile and pretty quick. Add the stunning views into the mix and you have a near perfect respite. We did see the picnic platter going out to a group and this looked equally tempting. If we're back on Bruny you can be sure we'll be back.

Unexpected.. great local food (had a sort of sample plate with smoked salmon & spinach quiche for two, followed by raspberry cheesecake) in green surroundings with seaview. Nice New Zealand wine by the glass for 7 bucks. The owner was very enthusiastic and funny. We`d love to come back.

We had dinner here and loved it. Easy to find and park. Beautiful gardens, views, and serene feeling to the place. Ate inside as the glass was dropping and a decided chill was in the air weather wise. Our host Michael was warm, friendly, and interested in us but unfortunately we did not meet Fiona who was doubtless putting together our wonderful meal. We had chicken breast and camembert, salmon and prawn sauce, and the nipper had a chicken dish. All were very generous portions, delicious, and honest fare. Followed up with apple and date cake (heaven!) and raspberry syrup cake and ice cream. I loved the open informality of the hothouse, garden-seating, crunched gravel, and easy banter. The elements of good company, good food, and a tranquil setting had a powerful influence on our wellbeing and even the teenaged ýoung hopeful' reverted to her pleasant inner-self. A must visit eatery on Bruny! Thank you Michael and Fiona.

You can eat in the hothouse or out in the garden. The host was very friendly and helpful, telling us that Fiona makes everything well. We had some of the best quiche ever and a great steak and Guinness pie. They also have excellent espresso. Everything was delicious, and service was quick. Be sure to stop here if you are hungry.
