“Very tired”
Reviewed November 19, 2013

Nice setting, away from the Saturday night noises of Bridport. Very roomy accommodation. Sadly, the place in serious need of some TLC. No excuse for the festoons of cobwebs nor the dreadful state of the barbecue area. We arrived to find a notice stating "ring this number if no one in attendance" . No one answered the phone. Eventually our voice message was replied to and we drove back to the accommodation to meet our host.

Thank you for your review, Your feedback is valued.

We apologise if everything was not to your liking. We have several barbecue areas I am wondering which you found not suitable for your needs. The main Guest BBQ is now near the Games room and I cannot find any reason why you would say is was dreadful. I will take a picture and include it here, perhaps you went to our private BBQ area, which we do not use much and is in a state of repair at the moment. Some of the accommodation have BBQs on the verandahs as well.
Sorry we were not home exactly when you arrived, we do try to be in attendance if we know when guests are arriving. Thank you again for your valued feedback.

Bridport and the Tasmanian Northeast coast are exceptionally beautiful places, and this accommodation is easily the most suitable place to stay at modest cost and with all that you need, only three minutes from Bridport beaches and activities.
I saw the platypuses at dusk, elusive little creatures but quiet waiting and watching is rewarded with fascinating glimpses as they come to the surface, and lots of fascinating ripples and stirrings beneath. Native plantings, birds, a lovely walk down to the Brid river actually on the property, and warm and unassuming hosts. Quietly ecological without making a big deal of it. Plan to stay two or three nights to really enjoy all the area has to offer - you won't want to leave.

Thank you for your considered review. We are so pleased to read you saw platypus frolicking in the farm dams. We look forward to your return visit to our comfortable accommodation.

Although we didn't have the chance to catch a sight of Platypus during our stay due to short stay, our stay in the Wattle Cottage is comfortable and enjoyable. Location is great, just minutes drive from the town but totally sounded by farm, trees and river, with no building block the view and zero noise at nighttime.

Our self catering travel group has 2 families, including 2 toddlers. The 3 bed rooms are neat and decent and the full kitchen is well furnished. Other facilities like the laundry machine and dryer are handy. The country view backyard are perfect place for BBQ. The large Jacuzzi is definitely a bonus that we hadn't expected and my kid had a lot of fun in it.

Gina is very hospitable, so does her puppy Sophie. Knowing us are interested in seeing wild life, Gina got up early to search them at the dams. Sophie looks extremely happy during our visit and always showed up and tried to play with us. l will recommend this accommodation especially to the family travel groups.

Becouse of working we'd stayed there for two week. The accommodation we lived was sooo nice, and let you relaxing.
Luckily we saw two of platypus in each pond!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gina said that was very rare.
Gina is so kind and friendly. one day when we'd head for George Town, but our car accidentally broken, we were stuck on the road, then she immediatly came to here and picked us back.
it was so lovely, without her I don't know what should I do.
Sofee their dog is so cute, he likes to playing and running with you. every morning she was walking around the room through the window you can see trying to find n play with you.
if I have time, really like to go back to visit them again!!!

We stayed at the Platypus Park one day in April. It definitely deserves its name, in a farmland settings and platypus in the pond - yes, we saw one too. Actually saw another one in the creek in Bridport as well. Friendly atmosphere, good accommodation, calm setting, an entire play room with pool and ping pong table for the children, cows and platypus... what else do you want?

My now wife and I got married at Platypus Park!

The venue is just superb - like us, not all full of itself with airs and graces, but honest, inviting, relaxing and in a gorgeous bush setting.

Gina our host was both incredibly accommodating and fantastically professional. Knowing we were getting married there, she spent what at the moment must be very scarce and precious water keeping the main garden green and flowering just for us. She put extra wildflowers around, and got her gazebo all done up...just in case it rained!

Fortunately, the weather remained fine and we are happy newly-weds!

Though we weren't joined by the famed platypus, we got to say hi to the chooks and cows that Gina keeps, and explored down to the river as well as the two minute jaunt into Bridport itself.

The rooms are great, neat as a pin. Again, just like us they aren't pretentious - the whole place is, just like Gina, welcoming, ticking all the boxes for a great relaxing stay without the bustle of a city but with all its conveniences.

Value for money is also brilliant - high season in a beach resort and just $225/night for four adults and a teenager? You can't argue with that.

Highly recommended - I'm sure we'll be back for many anniversaries to come!

Room Tip: If you love a place that's eco-friendly, you will love Platypus Park!

We went out of our way to stay at Platypus Park and were not disappointed. Such a great location to enjoy the countryside as well as the beach in a beautiful area. We stayed in Lavender Cottage which was spacious, well furnished, had everything we needed and was very comfortable. Although the property was fully occupied our accommodation was private and we didn't hear other residents. Our visit to the river was rewarded with a brief showing of a diving platypus. The generous breakfast provisions allowed us to take hard boiled eggs with us the next day. Gina and Tony were the best hosts. We would love to have stayed longer.
