We first visited Platypus House 12 years ago with our young family and returned for another visit with our now 15 and 24 year old sons.
The staff are very knowledgeable and enthusiastic and you could see the passion that they have for both the platypus and the echidnas.
We joined a guided tour of the place and learnt about the platypus, then we moved into the echidna room where 3 echidnas are wandering freely amongst the visitors. They are fascinating little creatures and the staff take great care of them.

Had an enthusiastic guide. Made us feel enthusiastic which isn't easy sometimes! My wife LOVED having the echidnas walking around her - she wasn't expecting that in the "platypus" house. Good gift shop - bought some excellently designed and beautifully-decorated-to-boot echidna and platypus tea mugs. Suggestions for making this better: 1. Ditch the cafe section and expand the gift shop. 2. During the tour ask if anyone has any questions! 3. Put female platypuses in the big tank and the male in a small tank. 4. After the echidna room let people linger in the room with the female platypus tanks before they leave. So cool watching them - would have liked more time. 5. Offer a $$$ "wildlife encounter" experience in the big tank swimming with female platypuses or hand-feeding the echidnas. Use the $$$ generated to buy out seahorse world and put platypuses in one building in BIG aquarium-like tanks and echidnas (and devils) in the other

It is the best way to experience seeing a Platypus. Do not miss this site. There are a number of them and they can be seen quite easly above and below the water line.

As a family with a 2 yr who is very hands on and enjoys interactive activities we were very disappointed.
$ 50 plus for 2 adults and our 2yr daughter gave us no value for money.
Our guide was very much over the top and seemed to talk at us with very little patience for toddlers that didnt comply with her instructions.
Would not recommend as a family value for money event to attend.

Thiss tour allows you the opportunity to get up close to the elusive Platypus that you would be lucky too see in the wild. Highly recommend doing the tour. We got a triple pass to see all 3 centres here which filled our day. Also at the venue are echidnas that you can get close to. Fantastic for all ages.
