“Wonderful dining experience”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

The menu selections were sophisticated and very well presented. A short but interesting selection of wines are available by the glass for those who would like to try something different. Service was a little slow as it was a very busy evening, however, the wait was worth the fabulous fare delivered by the chef, Patrick and the deligthful waitstaff.

“One word - Avoid.”
Reviewed January 6, 2013

In November I went with two friends for a weekend at the Siebel, including dinner at the Harvest. It was pricy so we expected an exceptional meal. We ordered a bottle of champagne to start. 20 minutes later, the Matre'd returned to advise us the one we selected was not available, and asked if we would like a similar bottle. He neglected to mention the one we were given cost $45 dollars MORE than the one we had ordered! We didn't discover this until the bill arrived.

The next disappointment was the Tasmanian Scotch Fillet Steak, a very tender cut of beef. We all ordered it, and all received meat with a lot of gristle. A steak costing $39 should be so tender that you can cut it with a fork. When told about the problem, the Matre'd argued it was not gristle, it was "cap" - the outer portion of a ribeye or scotch fillet cut. He said he'd been a chef and that this was normal, and only offered to "comp" us coffee, but we declined.

Shortly thereafter, a dessert we didn't ask for turned up at the table as an apology from the chef. This nice gesture did nothing to take the shock out of receving an unexpected $85 charge for the champagne on a $200 bill for just 3 steaks and a bottle of wine! Final verdict: Avoid this restaurant.

NOTE: It doesn't pay to tell untruths to your customer. One of my fellow diners has a degree in Food Technology, and knows that the Spinalis Dorsi (or Cap) is not gristle or fat, it is the tenderest cut of a Ribeye, which is NOT what we received.

P.S. There's a pub called the Macquarie Arms just down the road in Windsor. We had lunch there the same day for $10 and I would say their food and service was better..

“Special Christmas Lunch”
Reviewed December 25, 2012

My family and I enjoyed Christmas Lunch at the Harvest Restaurant, in the Sebel Hawkesbury yesterday. It was one of many Christmas lunches we have spent there over the past 17 years, but was particularly good this year. The food was delicious and in plentiful supply with most selections gluten free; the staff and chef were on hand for information, as well as to provide gluten free bread, mashed potato and dessert kept in the kitchen. Olga was in attendance and added a very heartfelt and personal touch, and even treated me to her signature cocktail, the Flaming Olga. It was a very difficult time for us as we had just lost my Mum three months before, but Olga and the staff really made a difference and looked after us royally, nothing was too much trouble. I really admire people who work in the hospitality industry, especially on Christmas Day, and are able to go the extra mile to make you feel special and not a nuisance, which sadly is all too common these days. Top notch Sebel, well done, and nice new look as well. The day would have been perfect with the addition of live piano, which has been a really nice touch in past years. Looking forward to seeing you next year.

“Terrible”
Reviewed June 15, 2009

I went to this place for my wedding anniversary. we chose this place because i had an entertainment 2 for 1 voucher and also because a friend recommended it.

My Husband only eats steak full well done and we were so surprised when it arrived rare. The meals had taken 40 minutes or so too. We sent the steak back and 10minutes later it came out again Medium. We ended up leaving because we had already waited around an hour for meals and my husband couldnt have his steak.

I was quite disappointed considering i have heard good things.
Meals quite dear also. Steak $35 and veges/ salad extra/
