The Grand View has some good cultural events, which make the restaurant a convenient gathering place. The food is generous and of pretty good quality, but they are often a bit under-staffed so service can be slow.

We called in here on the Sunday evening of the Australia Day weekend and though originally just in the bar for a drink, we were impressed enough with the friendly staff and the bistro menu, to stay on. We weren't disappointed. The entree size Cajun Chicken salad was large and delicious; the pork neck in master stock with pumpkin mash an unusual and tasty dish for me, with the pork belly beautifully presented and the chilli pasta with prawns was beautiful. The Irish waitress (Deborah) was welcoming and professional. We retired to the bar for further drinks and a chat with the locals before walking the 1 km to our motel. Such was the welcome and hospitality here that even though it was pouring with rain the next evening we decided to don the plastic macs and brollies and make the walk again. This time the welcome in the bar was just as great and again the Bistro did not disappoint. Perhaps a slight reduction in portion size and a dollar off the prices would have had us trying the delicious sounding deserts. Skip was the chef on our first night and Craig (head chef) on the second. Both did an excellent job. Didn't catch the name of the firsts
Nights batman, but the second was owner Ben. Thanks guys.

On coming back to Sydney somettime ago I had the great opportunity to experience good hearty food at the Grand View Hotel at wentworth Falls. Sinece then every time coming back to Sydney we call in to evxperience the food and have a drink. I think their chicken with goats cheese is their signature dish followed by their atlantic salmon and of course their small potatoes accompanying each dish are to die for. The table service always has the most cheery irish waitress you could ask for and is most helpful in telling you the specials of the day. The prices of all meals are very reasonable . Overall its the place to eat on the blue mountains highway.

We booked for dinner in the bistro on NYE After having read positive reviews and perusing the menu on the hotel website we were looking forward to a good quality pub meal experience. We were disappointed on arrival to find that NYE being a Monday meant a reduced menu; apparently Mondays are normally very popular for the buy one & get one free menu. the menu choices were very basic. I would have thought that NYE might have inspired something more than the normal Monday menu. We were told that the full menu would return the following day because it's a public holiday. Didn't make sense to me. Meals were basic and uninspired. The sauce on my parmigiana was obviously bottled. Chocolate mousse for dessert was nice. Service from both dining room and bar staff was very pleasant, friendly and helpful. Atmosphere in the "other room" was nonexistent. Overall a disappointing experience.

Stopped at the Grand View for the first time in many years, it always had a little more of a feeling of class to it than the average pub and that hasn't changed. We stopped for lunch, I had the pie of the day and my wife had salmon. Both dishes were delicious and just the right size for lunch. The prices are reasonable and the service was very good. We will be back.
