Artesian Spa Motel

Reviewed May 1, 2013

Stayed at the Artesian Spa motel in April 2013. We last visited in July 2012 and enjoyed it so much we came back for a second time! We noticed many changes for the better. The hottest (indoor) pool had been resurfaced and was much cleaner. And speaking of clean, last time, our room (a self contained family room with a queen and three singles) was not cleaned at all during our stay. This time the beds were made everyday and towels, teabags, tea towel all replenished daily. Maureen was extremely friendly and helpful, she went out of her way to provide a more comfortable chair in the room for my elderly mother to watch television from. The meal we had at the motel's restaurant was tasty but we felt better value was to be had at the local serviceman's club. Apart from the changes in the motel we also noticed changes in the town itself - the main street is actually really lovely now, large trucks have to use a detour and that makes a difference. We visited the Aquatic Centre and really enjoyed that as well (separate review). The best part was as last time, unlimited access to the soothing waters and chatting to people we met while bathing. I'm sure we'll be back again!

Room Tip: The closer to the warmest pool the better! i.e. furtherest from the main road.

We had a very relaxing, clean and spacious king room. The motel receptionist Maureen was extremely helpful, obliging and friendly and made our stay all the more enjoyable. The artesian spas were invigorating and rejuvenating after a long ride and we enjoyed a delicious dinner and breakfast in the motel dining room.

Room Tip: The artesian spas are included in the cost of the room.

We have stayed here many times in the past and always found the motel to be clean, comfortable and very friendly. Our first night we ate in the dining room and our meal was nice and more than enough to eat. The wine we had was very reasonably priced.
The next day was a public holiday so the dining room was closed but we could have got the courtesy bus into the RSL and back if we wanted to. The 2 heated pools and the ordinary pool were all well maintained and we spent most of our time in the heated pools. The spa pump in the enclosed pool was very noisy with a high pitched whine.
The exhaust fan in our bathroom was also very noisy and it seemed to be loose fitting and was vibrating but as it came on with the light we had to put up with it.
The king bed was very comfortable, air con worked well, electric jug fitted under the tap for filling easily and the hot water was piping hot.
Our friendly host/manager Maureen was extremely busy but always found time to answer a question or give us more milk or swimming towels.
Breakfast was ok with a variety of bread and also fruit.
We will visit again!!

We were at the motel for three nights and had a very relaxing time. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were spacious, clean and modern. The outdoor area was well frequented as were all the pools. Restaurant food was great with quite large servings. We couldn't fault the place, the new owners have put everything into the renovations.

Room Tip: If just staying one night, probably the budget rooms, but for longer stays the slightly higher cost...

This is a very poor establishment. Pushy upselling at the reception desk. No wifi included, minibar with hot prices, " will sir be dining in the restaurant tonight..?" ...errr...i dont think so....and then the smallest room since 1986 Horseguards Hotel in London...which at the size of a decent wardrobe I concede will likely never be beaten....Look elsewhere...in fact ... Anywhere else....of course it is just possible that room 23 was uniquely bad..? Go with that theory if you like.

Room Tip: Go to a different motel..?...avoid numbers above 15 which are at highway end.
