We stayed at the Milthorpe Motel on Saturday night and really enjoyed it. The management was really friendly, the rooms clean and the bed comfortable. Will definitely be back.

We spent the weekend at Millthorpe for the Orange Food festival. Hotel was clean, comfortable and modern. Can recommend the coffee at la boucherie across the road from the hotel. Tonic was also very nice, as well as the recently opened Commercial Hotel (pub). Town was very friendly and everything at the centre of town is within walking distance of the Hotel.

We booked in for Australia Day 2012 and requested a Delux room on line which was available.
On arrival we were given a standard room, with miners clothing still in the cupboard, toiletries still in bathroom, half water bottle in fridge, books on shelf.we were still charged the delux rate until we complained to which they offered a $30 refund. the management have little regard for guests.

Room Tip: book elsewhere

Unfortunately, for us, staying at the Millthorpe Motel, turned in a Fawlty Towers sketch.

Travelling as a party of three adults we were initially pleasantly surprised to learn our room had been "upgraded" to a "Loft" Suite - with a king sized bed in the "loft" and sofa pullout downstairs.

Unfortunately, our stay ended up a disaster. Returning from dinner in Orange around 10pm: all we found in terms of bedding for the sofa "bed" was a soiled matress protector. Searching around, we then found the previously used (and dirty) sheets and bedding on the floor of the cupboard.

With reception closed; our room phone not working (to reception or an after hours number); a sofa too short to sleep on (and the faint smell of someone being sick); a wooden floor; no extra bedding and a cold night - the only option was to "share" the king sized bed - definitely not conducive to a party of three adults.

After a sleepless night - what made matters worse - was the attitude of the management team: one party emotional with comments she would lose her job and have to pay for the room if I complained; the other repeatedly asking why we hadn't seen the night button (which wasn't apparent) and why we had been upgraded.

A genuine apology - was not extended and the subsequent follow up poorly managed.

In short, suggest staying elsewhere.

We dined at Tonic for my father in law's birthday party and a group of us stayed here in Sept 2010 and had a great experience.
Rooms were clean, modern and quiet.
Will recommend!!

If you enjoy filthy rooms with miners sleeping and staying 24 hours a day who have no respect for anyone else, here is your place! There is rubbish and linen all over the carpark and staff are un-friendly.
