The Old Vic Inn is a beautiful historic building in a quiet central location. Our room was clean and confortable. Breakfast was basic but very enjoyable outside on the wide balcony which overlooks on Canowindra's (quiet) main street.

We were looking forward to staying in some old world charm and although the large room fit the bill, the service and hospitality lets us down. No food was available on a Sunday. Fortunately one local pub was open for dinner. At the inn we were quickly shown our room but were not shown the common areas so we had no idea where things were until we did our own inspection. Coffee and tea items were in the room but no milk! We later discovered you helped yourself from the dining room fridge!
The inn was not really good value for money and sadly I would not recommend a stay here. Shame as there is much potential and need for this little town to have more tourists visit and stay.
I discovered the inn is up for sale, maybe an opportunity exists for an enthusiastic couple who like looking after guests!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony outlook.

I stayed in the Old Vic Inn for 4 nights for business.

The room I stayed in was clean and adequate. I requested an ensuite as I prefer not sharing a bathroom.

Breakfast is apparently included in the tariff during my stay however I did not attend so I have no comment to add to the quality of the food/breakfast.

The ensuite had no toilet paper and an awful smelling body wash/shampoo and during my stay the toilet paper supply did not improve, neither did the smell of the body wash.

Three of the four nights I was the only guest in the Inn which was quite fun.

The manager Jenny was very helpful.

Internet access is free and is a fairly decent speed, don't forget to ask the manager for the password on check in though.

I would stay at the Old Vic again with a supply of TP and toiletries in hand.

Room Tip: Don't wear high heels, they are terribly noisy in the wooden hallways!

My wife and I stayed at the Old Vic Inn for a week during the Canowindra Balloon Challenge activities. The accommodation was very comfortable and the restaurant meals superb. Hosts Graeme and Alison and Manager Jennifer were very friendly and helpful, especially when my wife suffered severe health issues and we had to request relocation from our original upstairs room to a downstairs one. Our stay was a great experience of country hospitality.

Room Tip: If you're averse to sharing a bathroom, be sure to request a room with en suite facilities.

As a group of 8 (4 adults and 4 kids) we paid $122 for breakfast so value not too bad, however the numbers do not tell the complete story.

The $4 flat white coffee was like dirty dish water - wishy washy milky and weak not really resembling any sort of coffee you'd expect anywhere in this day and age.

The breakfasts (eggs/toast/bacon/tomato/mushrooms/lamb/sauagse) made us wish we'd stayed home instead. I don't think aged bacon is a 'thing' - but you could certainly taste that the bacon was getting pretty long in the tooth and only just on the right side of green when it hit the pan.The plural 'sausages' on the menu manifested as a single sausage on the plate. At $22 for the big breakfast you'd expect a pretty hearty spread but it is not all that.

To be fair, the pancakes were good.

Service was slow, but we weren't in a rush. They weren't having a good day - we had to ask for a spoon and milk to go with the muesli that had hit the table 5 mins prior.

In summary - avoid breakfast here unless you are on the verge of starvation, even then give them plenty of time to prepare it.

chose this hotel after reading ad in tourist info magazine. on arrival we were told we were there at the same time as a family event so certain aspects of the hotel were not available. er were shown into a ground floor room but had to go upstairs to use the lounge and dining area. Due to recent rain everything was very damp. During the night we were woken by water dripping through the ceiling possibly from the rain or from a shower above. we declined to stay for breakfast and were refunded our money after a brief discussion

This is a warm, friendly little hotel that really embodies the spirit of the region. It is rustic enough to be authentic yet luxurious enough for a relaxing holiday. I spent a long weekend here with my husband on the wine and dine package that includes two dinners with local wines.
The balcony overlooks the historic main street of Canowindra and is a lovely spot to sit with a nice bottle of local sparkling (included in our deal) and soak up the town's atmosphere.
The included meals in the restaurant were delightful- a great range of very fresh local produce prepared in a simple country style. In particular, the local lamb is truly divine and was cooked to perfection.
Our bed was very comfortable and our room was clean and beautifully presented while definitely still true to the history of the building. There are also many small personal touches that give this little hotel a unique romance.
