“Not worth the money”
Reviewed September 9, 2012

My husband and I stayed for 1 night in early September and drew the short straw by being allocated one of the rooms by the front door affected by foot traffic coming in and out of the guesthouse. I found the room somewhat tired and drab and lacking in space. The bathroom was tiny and very much in need of an update. The sink was just a hand basin of the type usually found in a toilet facility and there was nowhere to put any toiletries except on the floor. The shower curtain also didn't hang low enough so that water spilled over onto the bathroom floor.

The atmosphere was somewhat boarding housey. No sign of the home made jams at breakfast as advertised on the website, just those cheap plastic packets. If you're after somewhere nice to stay for a weekend in the Blue Mountains, I'd look elsewhere.

Enjoyed 3 nights mid winter break. Beautiful B&B in a leafy location. Room was cosy, enjoyed the spa bath, relaxing by communal room log fire. Cooked breakfast was good quality. Only negative was the power ballad compilation playing in the background!
A few walks can be done from Blackheath.

Chocolate on arrival to promote the local business. This was a nice little treat after a short drive from Sydney.

We stayed in room 7 - a good room to keep away from noise and disturbance because it was located at the rear of the B&B. Whereas rooms 1-2? were located at the main entrance where there is lots of foot traffic throughout the day.

Breakfast was excellent, it was more than our expectations. It had a good assortment to start with such as the continental varieties with good quality loafs, yoghurts, muesli, cereal, tea, coffee and juiiice.
Hot breakfast was to order and this was the highlight. Sweet option available over the weekend during our stay; one of us tried their french toast which was yummy. We believe only a savoury option is available throughout the week which was also delicious (everything mentioned was included with the room rate).

Our bathroom was very spacious and had been fitted with natural light. Bed was comfortable. Poor mobile reception but who really needs it when you are there for a romantic getaway?

Limited parking. Not enough parking on-site for seven cars (there are seven rooms) during our stay.

Kubba Roonga has a really nice guestroom with an open fire place with accompanying port. This was free and very nice to drink to unwind at the end of the day.

Brigid was a wonderful host, the room was gorgeous - comfortable, clean and warm, the guesthouse was inviting and cosy on the cold winter nights. The complimentary port in front of the log fire each evening was very enjoyable and relaxing, just what we needed.

We stayed here one night, after having stayed in the Blue Mountains quite a few times before. The room was warm (important in winter!), and there was a nice open fire in the living area.
We stayed in one of the cheaper double rooms, which was reasonably comfortable, however it was at the front of the house, where guests entered and left so it was pretty noisy and not particularly private. Also the dining room was on the other side of our room, with music playing continually, which was kind of annoying as we heard it in our room. The breakfast was good, however the room was maybe not quite as nice as I expected from the reviews.

Room Tip: Maybe try a more expensive room?

My Husband & I stayed at Kubba Ronga over the June long weekend & we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We were greeted and shown around by one of the owner, who appeared serious. We found her lack of friendliness to be a little off putting. Nonetheless she adequately showed us around and made housekeeping rules clear.
Kubba Roonga is close enough to walk into Blackheath but far enough away to be very quiet and peaceful.
The weather was cold, rainy & foggy (beautiful mountain weather!) so our afternoons were spend in front of the open fireplace reading and chatting. The common area is quite large and other couples were also utilizing the space, without us feeling over crowded.
We stayed in room 4 which we found ok, some of the furniture could be updated & the heating and exhaust fan in the bathroom could do with an upgrade. However, these minor details did not detract from our overall experience. The bed was very comfy and warm and the room heating was adjustable (apart from in the bathroom).
The breakfast provided was excellent. The Continental AND cooked breakfast kept us going until lunch time! I particularly enjoyed the French fruit toast with maple syrup and strawberries (which was a special addition on Sunday!).
We would highly recommend Kubba Roonga for a quiet romantic trip to the mountains, we'll be back for sure & certain!!

My husband and I arrived on the Friday night to spend two days away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

On arrival after spending 2 hours in traffic trying to get there we were relieved to find a nice quiet guethouse. Our room was cosy, could do with a change of colour though just to make it more welcoming. We had some port which is left for the guests which settled our nerves and we were ready for a nice quiet night.

The wind blew and blew and through the night along came a blackout. We awoke early from the cold since our heater and electric blankets were resting The owners pulled out all stops to make our stay enjoyable even though we had no power or heat or hot water. We were served a lovely hot breakfast in the dining room and hooked up to the generator so we could have a nice hot shower. By 4 oclock the power was back on and the whole guesthouse was heated again. The owners gave us a beautiful complimentary bottle of Sparkling for the inconvenience which was greatly accepted.

We spent a nice evening by the fire and a game of scrabble which couldnt be finished as we had a dinner reservation (but I was in front of my husband at the time of leaving for the restaurant) . Our bed was comfortable and the room warm.

Breakfast the second morning was just as enjoyable as the first morning. The hosts are very pleasant and the rooms and guesthouse are clean and restful. The gardens are nice and in summer would be ideal for sitting outside and enjoying the beauty of Blackheath.

I would recommend Kubba Roonga to anyone who wants a nice peaceful weekend and pleasant hosts.

Room Tip: Ask for the front room, it looked like the biggest of them all.

Thanks for your review! A power outage on a frosty late-autumn morning in Blackheath is a chilly affair, but you and all of our guests were so understanding and positive. We really appreciated the way everyone decided to enjoy the romance of the open fire and candle-light, and to accept the limitations... We look forward to welcoming you back on a less eventful weekend!
