Yelapa is a small fishing village a 45-minute water taxi ride down the coast from Puerto Vallarta. It has all you will need for any length of stay, Stores where you can buy whatever you need at a really low price; many terrific and varied restaurants - also very inexpensive. Our stay was enhanced by one of the best places we have stayed, It is not a hotel, but a set of well-designed apartments. The apartments are all different, each with a balcony, quite new, and beautifully maintained by Fernando and Kendra Garcia, who speak both Spanish and English,
Fernando also runs excursions with his 3 well-equipped boats, so a trip out to see whales, porpoise, or turtles, or to go fishing with a knowledgeable guide is always a possibility.
If you are there with a lot of family/friends and wish to entertain, there is a new, spacious deck with full bar and cooking capacity, at the very top - overlooking the picturesque bay. Miraculous!
We could not have asked for better, more helpful hosts.

Room Tip: Each apartment is unique; contact them to determine the best for your needs, depending partly on the number of people in your party.

This was our 2nd choice in Yelapa, but it ended up being better than 2nd best! The bed was super comfortable and we both slept really well despite the heat (in part thanks to the ocean breeze, amplified by a fan). Other than a good night's sleep and comfortable room, we weren't looking for much.

This place has its own little private beach, which was actually very nice if you don't feel like going to the big beach. Bring your own beer and snacks and have a picnic! We also visited the rooftop lounge very briefly where Kendra and Fernando were entertaining friends (or relatives?) but they were very friendly, invited us to join them and offered us beer and agua fresca.

If you want to stay "in town", I would highly recommend this place, which is very reasonably priced (especially during the off season!)

Room Tip: We stayed in Casa Marietas 2 and though I didn't see the others, we were very happy with the layout, view and bed. Great for 2 people!

I stumbled upon this hidden gem (Yelapa AND Miramar) while perusing trip advisor forums on Puerto Vallarta. We had no intention of visiting anywhere but PV; but saw the info on Yelapa and decided to split our time between both.

I've nothing against PV - but boy, do I wish we'd spent our entire 8 days in Yelapa and at Miramar. What a magical place. Granted, we are easily entertained and OK with doing nothing so if that's not you - you may want to think about spending more than a couple of nights. If you want to disconnect (although the WIFI worked fine!) this is for you.

Clean, comfortable and calm. That's Casa Manta Ray. One suggestion, since there is no AC, might be to add an umbrella on the patio -that direct sunlight doesn't allow for much patio time from 11am until sundown (and heats up the casita considerably) - but everything else was GREAT! The Playita saved us from having to go back to the main Yelapa beach that was way too touristy and with too many vendors for our liking.

We'll go back to MiraMar, and skip PV.

Thanks Kendra and Francisco!

Room Tip: All rooms have seaside views!

Miramar is the best! The Rooftop Terrace is a great spot to catch the sunset or just catch some rays. I've stayed in almost every room and Casa Manta Ray is my favorite. We always book some sort of boat tour with them, they never disappoint! Buy the ticket and take the ride!

Our friends and my wife and I spent three days/nights with MiraMar during our visit to Yalapa. What a wonderful village, and Fernando and Kendra were fantastic hosts! They have built a beautiful B&B with ALOT of hard work and love. Fernando and Kendra make sure you have everything you need, and that you have a wonderful time. Fernando also has fishing boats, and his equipment is top of the line. You can’t go wrong staying at MiraMar, you can only miss an opportunity if you do not! Thanks again Fernando and Kendra for your wonderful hospitality! You have a great place, and a beautiful family!
