“Extremely disappointed”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 5, 2014

We stayed at Tamarindo Uno for a week when we went on a large group trip to Yelapa. I have to say I was extremely disappointed. We were with 20 people, and everyone else had a lovely room. Some of them had other rooms still with Casa Irma y Angel and some of them were staying in the Miramar building. We had one bedroom and bathroom with a shared kitchen with another couple in an adjoining bedroom. The kitchen had a tiny table with one chair so my partner and I could not even sit to have meals together. The bedroom is tiny with windows that do not seal which was apparent by the cockroaches, spiders and lizards we had in our room. Every morning between 3:45 and 4:00 am the rooster which was immediately outside our room began loudly crowing, about every ten seconds. Ear plugs didn't help. The best sleep I got all week was on the beach in the afternoon. We never even saw our landlords, except to get the key the first day.

After only a couple days the bathroom was disgusting - the room is tiny and there is no shower curtain so no matter how much care you take water sprays everywhere. And the bathroom "door" is a see-through sarong. Nothing like needing to use the toilet while your significant other is lying in bed literally a foot away from you with some cloth hanging! And since the balcony is not attached we couldn't even hang our wet clothing up outside, which meant our room just reeked by the end of the trip. And after seeing how nice everybody else's accomodations were we felt absolutely screwed. DO NOT STAY HERE! I've never before wanted to leave a trip early just to get a good night sleep in a clean place!!!

Room Tip: Choose the upstairs room, it has a view NOT of roosters. Or else Miramar casa!!!

We stayed at Casa Irma for the first time after several trips to Yelapa. The location is awesome, we had a wonderful view from our deck. The place is located right in between the village centre and the beach at the top of the hill. Our place had it's own kitchen on it's private deck. Inside the room (completely sealed along all windows/roof so no lizards/spiders could come in), we had a double bed and a twin bed, as well as a bathroom. The place was clean and comfortable, and well taken care of. The view off the deck couldn't be beat! Our bathroom, however, reeked of sewage to the point where we had to stuff towels over the sink and shower drain, and even so were in the bathroom as little as possible. It seemed to be particularly terrible in the mornings. We also had only cold showers, not fun. One last criticism is that it was hard to get ahold of Irma and Angel, they must lead very active and social lives!

We stayed at Casa Irma for a few nights and just loved it. The apartment was well above the street with a beautiful view of Yelapa village and the bay. The location was perfect- close to everything in town, a 5 minute walk to the main beach, 10 min walk to the river. Loved waking up to the sound of roosters, birds squaking and the sound of waves hitting the beach below. Also loved seeing the donkeys walking on stone street below. Angel was very kind and besides the slight language barrier, was very helpful and very friendly. Muchas Gracias for the lovely stay in Yelapa.

I just returned from a two week stay in Yelapa. While there I studied Spanish with YESI. I chose to stay close by at Casa Irma y Angel and never regretted it for a moment. This lovely couple offers a perfect oasis that is conveniently located in the middle, so access to all points in Yelapa is easy. Irma is a wonderful, friendly, and hospitable woman who helped me immensely with my Spanish studies. I chose to stay in Tamarind 2 with a shared kitchen, and have breakfast with Irma -- it was a great way to start the day! All the rooms are clean, charming, quiet, and with access to great bay views. Some of the rooms have charming, well equipped outdoor kitchens. Oh yes, there are the barking dogs and cockadoodling roosters, but that's everywhere. I appreciated the ongoing availability of drinking water, and good showers with consistent hot water. For the prices Irma and Angel charge, this has got to be the best deal for accommodations in Yelapa!

Room Tip: If you require total privacy, note that Tamarind 1 & 2 share a kitchen. For me it wasn't a p...

We stayed at Casa Irma y Angel in the Spring of 2012. I absolutely loved it and the price was perfect. Our lodging was quaint, colorful, and comfortable. We had an outdoor kitchen that I adored. The view was beautiful, and my boyfriend was able to fly his paraglider from Yelapa Tapa over the lodging toward the beach (wonderful sight!). I had a great time and would gladly stay again. :)

Casa Irma is a great deal. We had unit 1 which has a double and a single bed, with 1 bath. The shared area is a wonderul deck with a great outdoor kitchen. The location is central to Yelapa, equal distance from the main beach and the center of town. Be prepared for Saturday night's disco to be loud and in your face until early in the morning, having some ear plugs would be a good idea. We would definitely stay at Irma's again when we travel to Yelapa.
