My husband and I stayed at Casa Pericos May 19-22. What was I thinking when I only booked 3 days! The place is amazing! You can't beat the views, the house, the service Carolyn provides. It was so great to just unplug and unwind!

Casa Pericos has all the creature comforts. Carolyn stocked our fridge before we arrived, so we had margaritas before we even unpacked our bags. Snorkel gear and kayaks are provided. The best snorkeling was right in front of Casa Pericos. They even have wifi available!

Restaurants nearby were fantastic...Pollo Bollo and Brisas (amazing fish fajitas!!) We had breakfast at El Jardin one morning which was fantastic. We didn't make it out for much night life, but we heard from other people we met that there was music on the beach and at the Yacht Club.

Carolyn was fantastic with recommendations and made us feel at home. She checked in on us a couple times a day. She even waited with us on the beach for the water taxi to come (which we were hoping wouldn't so we could stay longer.) I just can't wait to go back!

I made my second journey to Casa Pericos and brought my partner and a friend this time. We had an amazing two days in paradise, eating fresh fruit and seafood, watching the sunset, and enjoying the wildlife. Carolyn the concierge is great and the owners spared no expense making the property a 4 star stay. More like a New York loft meets Indonesian boutique hotel, the suites (each it's own floor) are all outstanding and provide the most amazing views with the open floor plans, but still have full privacy! Already planning another getaway to Yelapa and doing some snorkeling off the beach at Casa Pericos.

Swiss Family Robinson meets the Mexican Riviera! How cool is that? If you want something unique, and enjoy the hospitality of an on-premises owner and a ready and willing staff (who even went out for a drink with us one night) this is it! But that's Yelapa for you - it's small town Mexico all the way. We chatted with almost everyone we met along the seaside trail from the hotel in town, you couldn't help but be friendly , and that's a nice change of pace from the usual hotel. The wife's birthday was on the day we arrived and as promised, a delicious birthcake was waiting for us at the restaurant that the Casa Pericos concierge, Carolyn, reccommended. The best food and margaritas in town were at Tacos y Mas, but the bananna bread at Brisas was homemade and the lemonade was sweet and tart - just the thing to cut your thirst after a long walk to the waterfalls, which were also fantastic - we swam right up under the falls and enjoyed the incredible views along the way. In all respects, our two teenagers and the whole family loved this place which by itself is an accomplishment and such a great change of pace from the usual resort or hotel with a pool. Bring a flashlight and backpacks with your stuff is the best way to get from the water taxi to the hotel. The owner, Blair, couldn't have been more gracious.

My husband and I wanted to visit Puerto Vallarta, but after looking into lodging, we came across pictures of Casa Pericos in Yelapa and knew right away we had found our ideal vacation spot. The rooms are as beautiful as they appear online, but the staff and services they offer makes Pericos really special. Carolyn (consierge) started contacting us well before out trip by sending all sorts of information....documents and travel info, clothing and items to pack, lists of activities we might enjoy....everything! Because we had her book our day trips for us, we had the luxury of small intimate excursions provided by locals that she knew and trusted. We loved avoiding huge tour boats and crowds! We will never forget the fisherman that took us to the Marietas Islands, in his very small boat, stopping when he spotted a whale (which was really close to us!), and stopping again when a huge group of dolphins began swimming past our boat.

Yelapa is amazing. If you are looking to avoid big crowds and touristy shopping, you will love this charming and convivial fishing village. Also, there are some very good restaurants, they are reasonably priced but make sure to bring sufficient cash with you because there are no ATMs and very few places accept credit cards.

stayed on second level for 3 days with another couple, carolyn was there to greet us along with the supplies we ordered where awaiting us at the palapa, the room and ammenities are first class, but keep in mind you are in the middle of the mexican jungle
if you do not like the outdoors and the occassional bugs I suggest you camp out elsewhere, not sure if I WOULD RECOMMEND FOR FAMILY WITH SMALL CHILDREN OR ELDERLY PEOPLE
the walk along the waters edge can be challanging at night especially if you have enjoyed a couple beverages, but if you love the outdoors and some moderate hiking you will love the location, the little town of yelepa is very old but has much charm and character as do the people of the village, AMAZING VALUE FOR THE UNIT ITSELF
hope to return in the near future, also meet the owner, really great guy, if you like a little adventure combined with romantic luxury, come here it is an experience of a lifetime

What a fantastic place! Took my husband and 2 children (15,14) to Casa Pericos after having been in Yelapa in early December. They were overwhelmed by how open it was at first and the sound of the crashing waves right below us at bedtime, but everybody kept gasping "This is amazing" at regular intervals so it was all good. We've never been campers so the outdoor/indoor experience is new to us. We left our bananas and avocados out one night and something ? ate them, plus a friendly cat came by for a visit one night and my husband and I woke up with it sleeping on our bed, which i was fine with but my husband, not so much. The penthouse is really gorgeous, everything you need and nothing you don't want ie. TV and DVD player. Our kids played cards which were plentiful in the suite. The only thing I feel I should mention is that the website made me think this was a hotel, with services and someone there to manage any needs. We were quite on our own for the first 2 days and only saw Carolyn briefly on our last evening, though in her defense she did email us in advance and ask if there were any services she could provide like stocking our fridge and booking us a whale watching tour etc. Had I not been to Yelapa before and known my way around, it would have been a little daunting. Shane did stay in touch with us via email though and was quick to respond to our queries. It sounds like maybe this was an aberration, there being no-one there so that's good. The suggestions for restaurants in the book they provided were great. Pollo Bollo was really good and Salitas had the most amazing tortilla soup I've ever had. All in all a very unique and special experience. Would like to rent out the whole place with a couple of families the next time.

I especially enjoyed waking up to the sun coming over the mountain and across the bay, (while still in bed, of course). All the positive TripAdvisor postings were pretty much right on describing the visual excitement Casa Pericos presents. Discovering a place that is so architectually unique was a special addition. Very fairly priced for what you get and what you get is big, beautiful, and custom designed down to the finest detail. If you can swing it rent the Penthouse. You won't regret it! Hell, rent the whole damn place. Thats what the lucky people coming in after us did and I'll bet they'll have some stories to tell. The restaurants in town are excellent. Two of our favorites are Polla Bolla and Bahia. At Bahia, chef/owner Susan is a chef from the Bronx who trained in Paris. She makes just her own bread, grows tomatoes and lettuce, and everything we tried was simply perfect. She is open for breakfast and lunch. Pollo Bollo is a fun place to eat, cuz you'll see a huge cross section of the population while enjoying excellent BBQ. Bring a couple of flashlights. They supply the candelight. This is one sexy place.
