“A Dream Come True”
Reviewed March 26, 2018 for a stay in March 2018

Casa Papaya was EXACTLY what we were looking for. The beautiful open-air construction, just feet from the waves crashing on the rocks below, was the perfect paradise location to fully relax into the Yelapa experience. It is located right in between the historic village and the beach, so both are extremely accessible, and I don't think you could ask for a better view and vantage point in this idyllic little bay. Standing in the living room, if you look to the right, you see the beautiful white sandy beach, with the river just on the other side of the dune, look to the left, and you can see the town pier and boats moored out in front of the village, look down and you see sea birds fishing in the surf on the rocks, crabs skittering all over the place, and wild iguanas sunning in the morning light. At bedtime, you're lulled to sleep by the rhythmic sounds of the waves on rocks. This was a truly unique experience, with the open air layout, as you're immersed in the environment. Maria was a pleasure to correspond with leading up to our trip, and don't worry about finding the place when you get there, as any local hanging out down by the pier will gladly point you in the right direction. Yelapa is a small and very tight-nit community, and everyone knows where Casa Papaya is located. It's a beautiful spot, had everything we needed, including purified bottled water, and nothing we didn't need (like a TV). Great price, as well. We'll be back! (Also, there was one review that mentioned a risky walkway down to the unit, without hand rails. Maybe they've improved the walkway since then, as it was not risky at all, and had very sturdy stairs and hand rails all the way down to the unit. You will want to carry a flashlight in Yelapa after dark no matter what, as the paths and walkways are all cobblestone, brick, etc., but we found the walkway to be a breeze. One more tip: Please be kind to the locals when visiting Yelapa. This paradise is their home, and you can tell that they are getting tired of rude visitors.)
