My husband has been a railway enthusiast for years and i must admit I've caught the bug too when steam train are involved so I was delighted to visit the Bluebell Line on a recent visit to Puborough. After enjoying a light lunch in the cafe bar we visited the Museum and spent ages admiring the magnificent engines in the large shed. Getting up close you begin the realise just how big and powerful they are and why they are still the inspiration for so many artists, writer and film makers. Then it was time to welcome back the latest monster steaming slowly alongside the platform.( We didn't have time to go on a trip ourselves.) Since it was term time visitors consisted mainly of elderly people or those with babies and toddlers but it was good to see a group of people, some with dementia, assisted by carers who had brought them for food and an afternoon with a difference.. Two were in wheelchairs but there was no problem wheeling them across the railway line to get maximum benefit from the site and I'm sure the sunshine and their experiences gave them as much pleasure as it did us!
