Saturday lunchtime - given a table in a passageway near kitchen entrance. Quite hot and noisy.
Starter (smoked salmon) OK but nothing special.
Main (chicken tagine) was a bit disappointing. Not the deep rich flavour normally associated with a tagine. The whole chicken breast did not absorb much flavour.
Cheese course: good - three interesting varieties.
Coffee: could not provide filter or cafetiere - only watered down espresso.
Service slow but staff cheerful.
Reasonably priced for what was on offer, so all in all, an average score.
I would not rush back.

I've been twice now to the wonderful South Lodge Hoel on conferences and have eaten in their lovely restaurants, so this time inquired whether there Was A "gastro pub" within striking distance. Indeed there was and the food was superb. We had lamb Wellington and parsnip appetizers, both of which I fully recommend. The highlight though wqas thhe homemade ice cream -- licorice and Ginger -- for dessert. We were really glad we had ventured out. It was a terrific meal and in a lovely pub.

Visited The Crabtree for an evening meal and a pint. Very good food that wouldn't be out of place in a top class restuarant but not in the slightest bit pretenteous.

We had the lamb wellington and duck breast - both very tasty and I wouldn't hesitate to order anything from the menu.

Service was very friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed.

Well worth stopping by for food.

This was our third visit to this excellent restaurant and we were not disappointed. We had Belly Pork and Ribeye steak followed by Blood orange jelly and Coffee delice for dessert. It was all delicious and served by friendly and efficient staff. This is our favoured restaurant in this area - producing high quality food with a frequently changing menu. Also has great vegetarian options. Easily 5 stars.

Very well cooked food at perfectly reasonable prices, attentive service, all good. Certainly would return (loved the Scotch Egg - gooey inside as it should be)
