Had a meal with friends one Saturday evening. Good value and food and service were fine. Nice to have clean white tablecloths on the tables. However pub is very shabby and could do with refurbishment. Carpet in restaurant/bar area looked ancient and a grubby! Lots of old brassware and other stuff cluttering up the pub. Staff friendly and efficient. Did not stay so can't comment on the rooms.

I've stayed at the Bent Arms several times now when working in Haywards Heath - it's a traditional pub/inn in a nice Sussex village about a mile from Haywards Heath. Staff are friendly and helpful, food is very good as is the beer (Badger and Sussex ales) - if you eat before 7:30 in the evening a 2 or 3 course choice is available at reduced price and is especially good value. Other restaurants and pubs are a short walk away in the village, but with the food on offer I rarely look elsewhere.
Accommodation is comfortable, but nothing special - about what you'd expect from a country pub B&B; fine for the price. A few rooms have new digital TV now, but some are still on old sets that no longer have a remote control (apparently they had several stolen, so gave up getting replacements); this will get resolved soon as the analog TV signal gets switched off in coming months and the old sets have to be replaced.
I would certainly stay again, and I've already booked some nights over the next few weeks.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are quieter, especially in the morning rush.

Stayed here with 3 friends in the 'cottage' for NYE. Beds were comfy and staff friendly. Bit annoyed that upon arrival they charged us £25 more than the advertised price as we had 4 people staying but they didn't mention this when we booked. Breakfast was ok, again service was excellent but food not so great. Wouldn't go back for a break but if I needed to stay for an event nearby it's absolutely fine.

We stayed here as my family lives close by and for Christmas it was very easy for us. As previous reviews have stated the room was functional and comfortable as was the bathroom all though we had decent water pressure in the shower. The room could use some updating such as remote controlled TV but other than that it was quite big as English hotel rooms go. Breakfast the next morning was excellent and served by a very cheery wait staff. The dining room is the old part of the hotel so traditional English pub with old beams. Very heavily decorated for Christmas which made it fun. The only thing that would have put them over the top would have been a cheery fire in the beautiful old fireplace in the main dining room. Nice location in a typical English village. They should have advised us of the Christmas Eve gathering as the pub downstairs was very noisy til just after midnight, but being as it was Christmas we did not find it too distracting especially since they cut it short at midnight. I would recommend this to all my friends and family as a great stay for the price.

Room Tip: No lift in hotel so be sure to book a ground floor room if you cannot climb stairs

Overall our stay here was very pleasant. The staff were friendly, and the breakfast was very good. The bar area was very nice - an authentic English country pub. The place had real character and there was a nice garden.
Our room was OK, although we were surprised that we were charged an extra ten pounds from the advertised rate as it was deemed to be a 'premier room', which simply meant it had been painted recently. The smell of paint was strong so I don't doubt this but I'm not sure I would consider this to be a privilege to pay extra for. In hindsight we should probably have booked the cottage, where our friends stayed, which wasn't much more expensive and had a lot more space.
We were also surprised when the cleaner arrived at our room in the morning asking us to leave in five minutes as we hadn't been told a check out time on arrival.
Having said this the staff were very accommodating, organising transport for us and remembering our breakfast order, which we had drunkenly delivered the night before.
The shower wasn't the greatest, low water pressure resulted in a weak trickle that would have been difficult to wash your hair in.
We would stay here again but would ensure we first had a conversation about the price and standard of the room.

I booked a room at The Bent Arms for convienience as I was attending a wedding in the village. Having booked my room the rest of my family followed suit, so we had the whole hotel to ourselves. It is not glamourous, it is a functional B&B. We had a clean room, with clean sheets and clean towels. The bathrooms are a little worn and need some attention, but then it is functional and after all it is not claiming to be a 5 star hotel.

I had a good nights sleep and an amazing breakfast. The staff are very friendly and cant do enough to help you. It is value for money. Probably not the best place to stay for a romantic getaway but for a functional stay away, a place to rest your bones, you wont go wrong.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back of the hotel as rooms at the front are over a busy pub
