“Perfect!”
Reviewed March 24, 2014

My wonderful friends arranged a surprise trip here last weekend for my hen do and they couldn't have chosen somewhere more perfect.

The hotel, made up of a beautiful cluster of charming period buildings, surrounded by a blanket of daffodils, was completely idyllic. The bedrooms not only looked great but were extremely comfortable to sleep in, with enormous soft pillows and duvets.

The spa was luxurious with a great choice of facilities and wonderful attention to detail throughout. It was a shame that the outdoor pool wasn't working, but we were spoiled by the warmest weekend of the year and were able to make full use of the outdoor hot tub and comfortable sun loungers. The proximity to the beach was fantastic too, and allowed us to enjoy a picnic lunch there in complete solitude.

We had a wonderful private dining room for breakfast and dinner and the food and drink was all delicious.

The staff deserve a special mention - they were all so friendly and helpful and went out of their way to make sure that we were all having a great time.

I've been fortunate enough to visit a few different spas and this is the best I've been to by a long way. It deserves five stars and I can't recommend it enough.

Many thanks to all at Baillifscourt for such a wonderful weekend!

This hotel is beautifully recreated in the style of a small medieval village, but has all the comfort of a cosy and modern facility including good food, complimentary wi fi, free view TV, access to a spa, indoor and outdoor pools, and sauna...beautiful grounds, friendly staff, alongside a quiet beach via a short walk through the beautiful grounds.
Additionally the hotel is dog-friendly, with peacocks roaming the gardens, rabbits in the adjacent fields, a real haven for nature lovers....
On arrival we were given an unsolicited upgrade as it was a quiet time, and staff member Theresa was so friendly and helpful making us feel extremely welcome including Hector our Scottish terrier who was given his own water bowl, a bonio biscuit, an envelope of doggie bags, and a menu of treats....Really good service for all dog owners and non dog owners alike...I have to recommend this place to anyone wishing to stay on the south coast, visit the downs or the beaches, Arundel with its gothic style castle and cathedral...Feltham ...where the poet and painter William Blake lived....so much to see..even Littlehampton or Worthing for typical english sea side..

Room Tip: We didn't see all the rooms but ours was lovely....Clean, cosy, nice en suite, complimentary toi...

Just returned from the most amazing hen party weekend for my daughter at this hotel. I swear they have their own micro climate as it is my 2nd visit out of season and glorious weather both times! Sunday was spent, firstly with a picnic on the beach (5 min walk), following by such a relaxed time in hot tub, sauna, steam room or relaxing on giant bean bag loungers. The bedrooms were all beautiful and the bathrooms spacious and modern with a lovely shower. Wandering in the grounds and watching the sunset was magical. Then into dinner where our party of 11 had a private dining room where we were treated so well and the food was lovely. Breakfast the next morning also delicious - not a warm buffet table in sight - all freshly cooked. Then back to more lounging in the spa and soaking up the sun. The customer service from the moment I made the booking to the moment we left was impeccable and nothing was too much trouble. Value for money is great bearing in mind you can spend two full days at the Spa if you wish, even though check in isn't until 3 pm and check out 11 am.

We stayed for 2 nights to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary, this was beautifully acknowledged by the hotel, both in the room and at Dinner. All staff we encountered were friendly and welcoming. The food was excellent, lovely room and we enjoyed our visits to the spa.

We have just revisited this hotel as we have been a few times before.
We took the Sunday night, Dinner, bed and breakfast at £ 279.00 deal.
We also had Sun day Lunch as were treating relatives who lived nearby.

The Sunday lunch was pretty good but despite me asking for the Sirloin Beef as rare as possible it was overcooked for me. Service was friendly and attentive. THe wine list is comprehensive with some good selections, although it is definitely on the pricey side compared to other similar hotels.

After dinner we thought we would take coffee is one of the lounges.
However ALL of the public areas inside had been booked out for Afternoon Tea and we were told there was nowhere for us to sit, it completely spoilt the lunch as our guests had no choice but to go home. I understand hotels have to maximise profits but would you not think that they might consider their residents and realise they may actually want to sit down somewhere.

The room was very nice we stayed in a medieval room in the main building.

Dinner was excellent in the evening.
Breakfast was also good.

My wife used the Spa and had some treatments , she said that the facilities and treatments were all very good but again on the pricey side, although we were given a £ 30.00 voucher which helped.

The setting is stunning and it is great to walk through the grounds and on to the beach for a long walk.

The staff are all helpful and friendly.

Room Tip: Go for a medieval room in the main building

After being disappointed with our previous hotel we booked into this hotel as we have stayed there before.
We were booked into a superior room, £229 bed and breakfast, and after placing our bags into the room we went into the main hotel lounge for afternoon tea. We asked for decaffeinated tea and was brought herbal tea. We spoke to the waitress on duty and she actually argued that we were wrong and that it was decaf! We asked very politely that she should bring another pot of decaf tea. She did after smelling the tea and was quite annoyed with us. The second pot of tea, was of course, decaf as the label hanging out from the tea pot said so! We had out tea and got back to the room and found the TV didn't work and that there were no shower caps in the bathroom. After informing reception
who said that she was very sorry and that whilst we were at dinner this would be corrected. The menu for dinner was al a carte at £49.50 per head and there was the Chefs Menu which was more suitable to me although it was very limited (just 2 choices of starters and main and 1 choice of dessert) there was no price on this menu and much to our surprise was the same as the al a carte £49.95 - my husbands dinner was at best edible and mine was OK (the steak was very good) but the chocolate panna cotta was runny. When we returned to our
room the TV was still on the blink and no shower cap when I phoned reception she said the house keeper would try and fix the TV and bring a shower cap (1) of which she did and said that she could find no more, and got the TV going so that 2 channels were available! The bathroom was extremely cold as although quite large there was only a towel rail to heat a large area, the towels weren't too good and has seen better days, also the complimentary bathroom soaps were enough for one use and not enough for the morning! When looking at the bed the
valance was full of cobwebs and dust. I wanted to complain but my husband had had enough and we left before breakfast the next morning.
Chris, the General Manager, will have to address these issues if he wants guests to return and not be disappointed and new guests to appreciate what a good hotel this could be (and was!).

Always a delight to visit and stay in this unique, romantic hotel. Set in a glorious, secluded location, the first sight is of a scattering of architectural gems in the style of a medieval settlement. Inside there are charming period interiors and fittings - most public rooms as well as a number of bedrooms have open log fires - yet subtle modern touches and facilities ensure a truly luxurious and unique stay. Among other things, there's a state-of-the-art Spa. Food is exceptionally good, service great! The attentive and helpful hotel staff are as you'd want and expect: professional, courteous, charming, knowledgeable.... In short, a character-filled luxury experience reminiscent of a bygone English country house party to which Noel Coward would gladly accept invitation.

Room Tip: Go for a room with a fireplace!
