“Weekend of luxury and tranquility...”
Reviewed February 18, 2013

Spent two night in one of the feature rooms at Ballifscourt and had a weekend to remember for all the right reasons. The hotel service, decor and staff are fantastic and the Spa is an absolute must for winding down. The Spa staff are superb and offer a wide range of the latest and more traditional treatments. The dining was excellent with attentive but not over bearing restaurant staff. I would recommend this hotel to anyone!

Room Tip: If you can justify upgrading to one of the feature rooms it is well worth the additional cost.

Our family of two adults and one child have just returned today from a lovely one night stay at Bailiffscourt. We had used a classic mid-week break gift voucher (that the hotel had very kindly allowed us to extend so it didn't expire), the voucher was for two people for dinner, bed and breakfast but our son was allowed to stay on a complementary basis and we only needed to pay for his dinner.

We had a beautiful tapestry style room which was very spacious for the three of us, with good facilities (TV, tea-making) and a lovely bathroom with big bath, twin sinks and a walk-in shower (nice toiletries too :) We used the swimming pool with our son which was also very picturesque (including a heated outside pool and hot tub) with decent changing rooms and showers.

As our son was tired after swimming we decided to have dinner in our room which the restaurant manageress was very accommodating in arranging, to the point of the chef even making sure the desserts were brought out (and our room was quite a way out from the main building) after the first two courses so that the sorbet/cold elements didn't melt, fantastic service all round, including the two waiters who had to trek back and forth with it all!

Needless to say, the food was excellent and even made this vegetarian happy with the options available, my partner did enjoy the scallops and boeuf bourguignon though and my son had a very decent child's portion of sausages, mash and beans.

We all slept very well and enjoyed a wonderful breakfast, all options were available including continental, full cooked, smoked salmon, cheeses, meats etc and even a lovely tureen of porridge which my son had with maple syrup (as well as egg on toast, croissant with Nutella and an amazing hot chocolate!). He said later (as we were walking it all off along beautiful Climping beach) that it was the best breakfast he had ever had!

All in all this is a lovely hotel staffed by some wonderful people and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone thinking of staying here. 5 stars.

Once again a stay at Bailiffscourt. Frank, Rosie and Chris were so welcoming and it was a pleasure to see them. The service was excellent and personal and the swimming pools superb. Our food and our drink were, as ever, delicious and sitting by the open fires a wonderful experience in bitterly cold weather. Service at dinner was a little slow, and one of the male waiters seemed more interested in talking to the diners than waiting on table.

I shall go again as soon as I get the money together.

Room Tip: My preference is for the more modern rooms which are lighter and larger.

My mother and I spent a wonderful 2 days at Bailiffscourt Hotel and could not praise the service and staff high enough.

Our room was spectacular and restaurant food Michelin standard. The staff were extremely friendly and could not do enough to help make our stay as comfortable as possible. The history of the hotel is wonderful and scenery breathtaking.

All in all, we had an amazing time and did not want to go home ;(

My wife and myself decided to have a night away from the kids, so decided to go to Bailiffscourt for a bit of a luxurious treat. It wasn't.

The place looks great from the outside, but once inside, it looses it's charm. There is no bar in the hotel, but several small reception rooms with no atmosphere, and a very dated feel to them.

The food in the restaurant was very average, which for the price they charge is not good enough. It seemed that the chef was out of his depth with the dishes he was trying to cook.

Our room which wasn't the cheapest, was ok, but we could hear the guests in the upstairs room flushing the toilet and the fan coming on every time they turned the bathroom light on. Not great in the middle of the night. Soundproofing non existent.

The Spa was nice enough, if a bit busy. We went for a coffee in the lounge area where there was a list of items for which the hotel was apologising. 'We know the showers aren't hot enough', 'We know there are problems with gym equipment' etc, etc. Why don't they just fix them?

Over all it was a real let down. It sells it's self as a high end hotel spa, but only it's prices match up to that.

I wouldn't recommend it.

We booked for the Christmas break 2012 - we had a wonderful time - plenty of excellent food, drinks (wine and juices included in the price), staff were excellent hosts throughout - just what we wanted, a complete relaxing break.
I have just read a review regarding the number of dogs staying with their owners during this time and, with hand on heart, there were no problems whatsoever! Do not be put off by some negative reviews, I would suggest that you go along to the hotel for coffee or lunch (whichever suits) and find out for yourselves - you will NOT be dissappointed.
We have already booked for this years' Christmas 3 day break - heaven!
PS Were there for lunch today 01.02.13 - superb affordable lunch menu - try it!

After an efficient email exchange I agreed to book a lovely Feature room for £900 for 2 nights including dinner, bed and breakfast. When I tried to pay the deposit I was bizarrely told they may be able to offer a lower room rate and would call me the next day. The call never happened (bit disappointing from a hotel of this calibre). I sent an email to Chris Alger (Manager who on here seems pleasingly customer focused) but he never even had the courtesy to reply.

No big deal - it's a lovely hotel and my wife and I stayed in their Baylies room many years ago and had a wonderful time and enjoyed great food/service. Perhaps the latter has slipped since then.....
