This is a sprawling, old and characterful place just off the A23 south of Gatwick. It has a large car park and plenty of outside seating and gardens.

Entrance through the bar was welcoming with a good choice of local beers alongside bigger brands, and on the top shelf a great selection of familiar and not so familiar whiskies.

The lunch menu offered lots of imaginative, well cooked and well presented choices and all were served at a gentle pace without any pressure to clear the table quickly.

So it is a place to linger, and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of a well run, clean and friendly place.

This is was our second time at the bolney stage as we had booked for a lovely fathers day meal earlyer in the year.
We decided to meet some friends who where coming down from the west country and it was near both where we lived and where they were staying.
It was quite quiet when we went on a sunday evening as they must of had a busy sunday afternoon i was quite disapointed to learn there was no roast of any kind and a few other things they had run out of however we all decided to have the same thing which was a burger and chips one of my friends liked the fact they do smaller portions for people who do not eat as much as others but there was still plenty there.
Myself and my other friend asked for something off of the menu but changed slightly and they were very happy to do this.
overall another good trip the staff are helpful and it has a big garden which would be nice in the summer.

Went to the Bolney Stage for lunch, very welcoming pub with helpful, pleasant staff. Service was quick, menu varied and a good selection on offer. We had a sharing platter to start with which was lovely. We both had the pie which was very nice and very filling, so no room for pud. Definately will be returning to this charming pub.

A friend and I met here for a leisurely lunch and sat in the lovely gardens. So far so good . The menu didn't inspire us and we both chose the ploughman's lunch which was described on the menu as Sussex cheeses , ham, apple , picked onion , bread and chutney .
We were offered white or brown bread and both chose brown . Well , to our disappointment the bead was indeed brown but was also very dry and sliced ! There was no chutney, no picked onion but for some reason half a tasteless pork pie was on the plate.. The waitress was a charming girl and took our stale licked brown bread away and returned with a basket of .........dry , sliced white bread.
We have eaten ploughman's lunches for many years but have never had one served with stale sliced bread and at £8.95 a very expensive piece of cheese and apple !
We expressed our feelings to the manager who agreed that maybe they should provide different breads !
We will not be returning .

Went to this 'restaurant' with my wife on our anniversary last night. Ordered the pie and mash (£13.00) and they had the audacity to serve instant mash! The pie was not made 'on premise' as it looked and tasted too manufactured. The gravy was also of the instant kind. I could have done a better job myself and now wished that I had rather than pay for the dis-privilege. On another note - the wine list was very average and a large glass of cheap Malbec set me back £7 (thinking about it now that glass could not have been 250ml) Thought about complaining but instead - here is my write up and I shall never go there again!
