We popped in for lunch and immediately felt at home in a very warm and welcoming environment from locals and staff alike. The staff explained the menu options well and were attentive. We really enjoyed our lunch and what we particularly liked were the homemade elements, especially the homemade dessert; much better than the bland, mass produced offerings in many pubs. Looking forward to our next visit!

What can I say?! We were greeted with Bucks Fizz on arrival and advised that our table was in the marquee, was a bit dubious as it was wet & cold...would it be warm enough in there?? Yes it certainly was! Wow! the marquee was decorated beautifully, all the tables were laid up and each of us had a cracker (not cheap ones either!) and a box of Lindt chocs! The waiting staff were on hand to ensure drinks were kept filled so no need to go to the bar throughout the meal. The food was faultless from start to finish, 4 courses all perfectly cooked, presented and served. There was a choice of 4 mains and half a dozen different sweets as well as a soup starter and a fish course. Santa put in an appearance to present children with presents and there was also a raffle number on each of the menu's which was called after lunch, an amazing selection of prizes! Will we go again next year? You bet! Well worth the money!!

We chose to stay here for a long weekend break to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary.
We'd never been to the area before but this proved to be an inspired choice.
The location was ideal for exploring this part of West Sussex. The hotel is on a very quiet road but with easy access to the A27 etc.

We found we'd been upgraded from a room to what we would call a suite; it was outstanding.

Comfortable, clean (every day) with all the facilities you could wish.

Breakfast was very nice; lots of choices besides the usual "full english".
Dinner was also very good. On a break, a set menu is included; this was still quite extensive and of good quality. You could also eat a la carte from a very interesting menu with an adjusted price.
In the evening we gravitated toward the bar areas. These had the feel of a real local pub.
Lots of friendly locals, some with their dogs, log fire even a parrot!
We should mention the staff who were attentive without being intrusive.

Criticisms? Well none really but if we were to be a little picky we wish there was better control of the heating. It got extremely hot on occasions.

So if you're thinking of staying in this area, look no further especially if you can use the "Break" tariff.

Had to go to the Inglenook recently for a meeting and, with a colleague drove into the car park at the rear which was pitch dark. On getting out of the car we had to make our way acroos these pot holes mostly fuill of water and negotiate our way to the rear entrance which was locked. We then had to renegotiate our way in the pitch dark to the carpark and walk round to the front entrance. On chatting with the bar staff they had obviously had the same problem. How much worse it would have been if we had been staying and had roll alon bags with us.

Another negative comment - I was absolutely staggered to be charged £3.80 for a pint of orange and lemonade - now that is rampant profiteering.

I used to stay and eat at the Inglenook in the 1980s when it was in its heyday and have watched it slide downwards since.

Saturday 3rd November 2012 - Our party of 14 came to stay overnight and a dinner for 21 was booked for that evening. The chef, staff and owner of the hotel lived up to the name of 'mine host'. The dinner was perfect and the carvery lunch for us all on the Sunday was delicious. The accomodation was very good - we could'nt wish for more - it warrants a 5 star status!
I would'nt hesitate to recommend this hotel to friends and family.
Thank you all for making my birthday something really special. Also, thank you chef for a lovely birthday cake and balloons - a very unexpected superb surprise!

Room Tip: All staff are there to help - There is no lift - but have excellent ground floor rooms if required...

The hotel was tired, they menu ok and the staff friendly. The hotel is undergoing some reservations and areas of it resembled a construction site, drilling early in the morning marred our stay and lack of attention to detail in the decor was disappointing. Our shower didn't work aside of a trickle, that said the staff were friendly and we had a pleasant stay, I would stay there again or recommend it.
