“Pleasantly surprised”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 9, 2012

This was my first visit to the restaurant. From the outside, it looks underated (the dark windows has its pros and cons I guess). Great decor inside. It was a quiet night at the restaurant so service was good.

Food was of good quality, on par with some other inidan restaurants I've been too. A quirky idea I saw for the first time: Combination Dishes. Gives you the chance to order 2 main dishes (smaller portions) instead of 1. Cracking idea! Reasonably priced food too.

I would recommened this place and visit again.

“Waste of time and money”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 1, 2012 via mobile

Title says it all. They were not concerned about our custom. They were to busy chating and joking with themselfs.

Another groupwas not charged for popadoms but we was. Whats the catch there?

“Brilliant”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 26, 2012

Visiting the premier inn right accross the road and what a treat so close by. Doesn't look much from the outside yet food superb. Balti best ever balti and fantastic garlic naan breads. We eat in Indian restaurants a lot and this was one of the best I have been too in a long while !!

“Apprehensive before we went in, and then ..........”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 25, 2012

My wife and I were staying in the Premier Inn over the road and thought there would a wealth of choice of restaurants in West Brom town centre. But, apart from a few take aways and sweet centres, this was all we could find.

So, with having a monopoly, we were a bit apprehensive as to what we would find. We couldn't have been more wrong. The decor is excellent. The staff are both friendly and attentive and there was such a choice on the menu. This was definitely not your "bog standard" tandoori.

And, as well as the choice, the quality of the food was excellent. The other customers were a mix of a largish group, two somes, and singles, all of whom appeared to receive the same excellent standard of service.

This was our first visit to West Brom - we chose the hotel for its proximity to the M5 - and we're unlikely to return for some time. But when we do we will ensure a return visit to the Shalimar.
