“Feeling Pampered!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 18, 2013

Had a fab overnight stay at the Park Inn Birmingham West last weekend.
Lovely reception when we arrived and got a double room upgrade - only cos I was a cheapskate and booked a twin! One of the best hotel breakfast's ever - loads of choice on the hot counter - constantly being re-stocked, but as I am being healthy I was spoilt for choice with cereal, nuts, dried fruit, seeds, soya milk, yogs, fresh fruit, etc.
However, the best part was the day I spent at 'Inaction' the hotels leisure facilities.
Although the pool was quite small, there was a fab warm jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, gym and best of all the sports massage by Anita Aheer. I would recommend anyone looking for a value for money pamper session, to book in for an overnight stay and spend the day at Inaction (and definately include a massage). Having spent the last 6 months training, I was due a good massage and I wasn't dissapointed. Well worth every penny of the £50 - Thank you Anita!

Excellent, friendly service at this well run Park Inn. Ideally dituated to access the sevond city. Comfortable, clean room with huge towels. Enjoyed two nights. Food was excellent. Maybe when there is a wedding at the hotel, extea bar staff could speed service s little. Follow the brown signs rather yhan Sat. Nav.

We booked this break as part of a deal with National Coach Holidays. We paid less than £120 per person and this included the evening performance of The Lion King, a day at The West Midlands Safari Park and a night at The Park Inn on a half board basis. At this price we couldn't have complained if National had put us in a hostel on breakfast only so based on cost The Park Inn stay was quite simply fantastic. However, I will try and be objective in my review and pretend we paid the full going rate.

Rooms.
We had a twin room which was better than basic and quite comfortable. We had a wonderful nights sleep due to very comfortable beds, great room temperature (some hotel rooms we find are far too hot for comfort) and a lack of noise despite there being a wedding party going on. Negative comment would be there was a lot of dust, hair etc on the bed rollers (the cover didn't hide this as sheets were tucked in). We aren't those sad people who move furniture etc to inspect cleanliness but this was very apparent without looking for it and the same could be said for the skirting boards.

Food
Breakfast was buffet style offering full English and a cold continental selection. No complaints whatsoever. Evening meal was a set menu which according to the menu would have cost us around £20 had we been paying. I accept hotel meals are more expensive than say going to the local pub for a carvery but I don't think I would have been happy to pay £20 per head for this. As I say we were on the coach trip and for what we had paid can't complain. We had soup or melon to start. This was folllowed by gammon, chicken curry & rice, vegetable slice and an assortment of vegetables, chips & roast potatoes. I think the idea was to choose between the gammon, curry or vegetable slice but some in our party had the lot which we thought an odd combination but the restaurant staff were happy to let them have everything. Desert was a choice of 3 different gateaux (the type you might pick up at Iceland) and staff didn't mind those who helped themselves to all 3. No idea what National paid for our stay but my guess is the hotel made very little profit.

Staff
Check in was was fast and efficient. The reception staff were lovely and made a real effort to ask us about our theatre trip when we left. Restaurant staff too were all polite and helpful.

We had an amazing value for money break and thoroughly enjoyed our short stay. Would I have wanted to pay full price? Not sure , it depends what full price would have been but I would certainly have been willing to pay more than we did.

Stayed here for one night on an organised coach trip to visit the theatre. We paid very little for the whole package and feel we got excellent value for money .The hotel was better than we would have expected for the price paid. Our room was comfortable and functional although the skirting boards looked like they hadn't seen a duster in months. We enjoyed a good English breakfast and a pub type carvery for our evening meal (again better than we imagined for the price we paid). Reception staff are efficient and extremely friendly, a real asset to the hotel. All in all a nice enough place to stay for the night if you happen to be in the area.

I stayed here for 2 nights working away in Birmingham. It was about a 15 minute drive from city centre and is conveniently located just off the motorway.
The location was very quiet which was great for getting a good nights sleep.
The room was a good size with a good size flat screen tv. The bathroom was also spacious with a lovely waterfall shower.
Also made use of the free wifi.
I ate it the hotel both nights, in the restaurant the first night and room device the second, both meals were good and reasonably priced for a hotel.
I did not make use of the small pool but it looked nice.
Staff were also friendly and helpful.

Stayed here last night 4-9-13 with work, on arrival staff extremely friendly, helpful check in was extremely quick. Room was small but adequate as I was on my own, very clean can't fault anything to do with the room, or the hotel as such. In the restaurant however I ordered Sirloin steak @ £18.99 on ordering the waiter ( which again was friendly & helpful) said do you want any sides with that I said "does it not come with fries" the response from the waiter was "no you have to order those seperatley" they were priced £3.49 it seems strange that the meal was literally just the steak, a mushroom, a tomato and a sauce of your choice and you had to pay extra for fries.

£22.48 for a sirloin steak with fries in my opinion is expensive and the meat wasn't all that either. My colleague ordered theirs well done and when it came out it was still mooing ( ok so im exagerating a little but it was very pink, certainly not well done ).

We stayed in rooms 425/429 on the 1st September 2013, rooms were spotless & en-suite was also very clean. only problem was t.v in 425 was'nt working (but not a major problem) The duty manager was informed & was in the room in 2 minutes flat to try & rectify the problem. The evening meal was quite adequate & breakfast was simply gorgeous with anything you could ask for.
On the whole, a very nice stay so dont take much notice of the poor/terrible reviews.
True, the surrounding area is a bit in need of some re-generation but the same can be said of MANY cities in the country.
