We were booked in by our hosts at a nearby B&B as we needed somewhere to eat soon after arrival on a Friday evening. Excellent food, good atmosphere and polite, efficient service. Would be happy to return.

I am a local to this pub and live in the village. I have been to The Bell many times and have no hesitation in recommending it. First class food and excellent service. It is entirely reliable and we have never had a bad meal there. It is not the cheapest place to eat but you get what you pay for, and the quality is always good.

This is a smart pub in a village setting, it serves good beer and a variety of food, from some pub food but more restaurant food which is all good and caters for both meat eaters and vegetarians, the food is not cheap but it is a 'nice' pub. There is ample car parking and a great outdoor seating area which is not just for smokers.

We were staying at a nearby B&B and this was one of 4 local eating places recommended by our hosts - we were not disappointed. Lovely pub, open fire, stone floor, good atmosphere, plenty of ales and the food was excellent. Despite the cold and snow, the bar & restaurant were still both quite busy and obviously booked up for most of this Saturday evening, to me a good sign given the inclement weather.
As suggested, we reserved a table and this was immediately available on our arrival, drinks ordered at the bar were brought over and we were served by very friendly staff.
It has been mentioned that the food is not cheap, but we thought it reasonable for the excellent standard. We chose from the 'specials' menu, i.e. home made turnip soup, lemon sole, steak & Ale pie - all really fresh, piping hot and with very good service.
Our next visit to the area will involve another visit to The Bell Inn, as our experience there was a very good one, definitely leaving us wanting to try here again.
