Description: El Cafe is a spanish cafe bar in the heart of Shipston On Stour. Come down for an authentic Spanish coffee, a selection of Tapas or a few glasses of wine! The times that we advertise are for food orders/bookings, as in true Spanish style we close when we have finished, we like to fiesta in the evening but in the afternoon we close the kitchen at 2:30pm for our siesta, this is so we can do fiesta!!!

Saw review on TripAdvisor so looked it up on first of our two night stay in Shipston. Small place with a few tables in and it was quite a quiet night. As we were not sure about the content the menu the owner/chef (Dave) made what turned out to be an excellent choice which was a mixed platter of different types of tapas dish. He was very friendly, very knowledgeable and helpful - and honest. At less than £20 for the two of us including drinks it was terrific value for money.
We were so taken by this place that we returned on our second night - just managed to get the last table and had another fabulous meal washed down by a good spanish wine ( the first one on the wine list -suggest you try it!). The atmosphere was more lively but still Dave maintained that personal touch. To summarise - great food served by a passionate friendly host which is really good value in warm and cosy surroundings. An eating experience we will remember for a long time. Will aim to get back there someday!

Great lunchtime food and coffee, lovely atmosphere and superb waitress. Worth the visit. Reasonably priced menu, including tapas.

My partner and I visited this weekend as we we were staying in Shipston on Stour for a couple of nights. Walking along the beautiful old streets we walked through and alleyway onto a little square and to my surprise noticed this lovely little Spanish cafe. As we already had plans for dinner that night, we decided to book a table for the next night.
The menu was fantastic and being half Spanish myself I can assure you of the authenticity of the food. We had meatballs, king prawns in garlic and parsley and Spanish omelette to share between us along with the most fantastic pizza I would imagine you can get for miles.
Beautiful Crema Catalan for dessert and my partner had a fantastically presented and gorgeous ice cream.
The value of the meal was fantastic as we had a bottle of wine and coffees, and brandy and baileys and a gratis shot of archers just to cleanse our pallets on departure.
Next time we go up that way again, we will 100% visit. No doubt at all.

We both had the tapas taster for a fiver. Very good value and delicious. Choice of tapas (up to four) with bread and a mini salad included. Friendly and human staff. Ideal for a catch up with a chum.

Ok, before i rave about this place too much, keep it a little quiet as there are only a handful of tales! Tapas to die for, lefe beer on draught and the best Calzoni on this living planet! If you dont believe me then go and try it for yourself!
