Description: Good old-fashioned British Pub serving the best traditional ales & ciders, continental beers, and delicious food. A must for any Rugby fan, this place is a mecca for locals looking to watch live matches. A fascinating pub with great locals, stacks of history, fantastic beer & food served by wonderful staff. What more could you ask for? - Oh and it's a stones-throw from where the game was invented!

Excellent selection of real ale and proper cider and perry. Great atmosphere and live proper sport (rugby and cricket). Do good food at lunch time which is good pub fare especially the home made burger. No food in the evening. Clientele generally good beer lovers and if you are a member of CAMRA they will accept the money off tokens.

I never tire of visiting this pub, the atmosphere is fantastic it is always busy a very traditional pub with a vast variety of cask ales & beers. I have never had food here so cannot comment on it.

The pub had a lovely atmosphere, and the bar maid was excellent, recommending different beers, she really knew her stuff and the beer was lovely. We ordered food a burger and scampi, the food arrived quickly , but was dreadful warmed up chips the "salad" was three bits of tomato a tiny bit of lettuce a slice of pepper which had seen better days, the homemade tartar sauce tasted sour and was and crusty and dry round the edge, ready for the bin, very cheap ketchup and the " scampi" tasted liked fried fish sticks , I left 90% of my meal , the burger was ok but very dry and the bun was cold in the middle, think it had been previously frozen(?) . I have never written a bad review before and I'm not a complainer, but I think this is the worst meal I have had in a pub yet,so if your going for a beer you will be delighted, but food forget it.

For a town centre pub this is an absolute delight. Brilliant staff, great beers. A good old fashioned atmosphere.
