When we had our fitted kitchen done, we were unable to cook for a fortnight, and we came here abut 6 times out of about 16 days we were without a cooker etc. We have also been a few times since, both with friends, and I have also visited here for a couple of business meetings. Service has always been very good. Food has always been very good, much better then the usual standard of food you get in these types of pubs/chains. It`s also a nice place to sit outside by the canal in the summer, but it can be noisy if lots of children are outside playing, but having a little one ourselves, this doesn`t bother us at all! Food on 'almost' all occasions has been very good, and at fantastic value. Once some chips didn`t seem to be quite done enough, but that`s being very picky. Atmosphere is good here too. So, we have visited at about 12 times within the year, and have only had one VERY MINOR little grumble.

Beside the canal, large car park. We stopped here for lunch - nothing special. A good place to bring children (or so it seemed to us ... they were running around everywhere!!)

Big pub with lots of seating areas. Have theme nghts and staff always dress up. Always smiling and happy. Food good and reasonable. Service is quick but if very busy they will tell you how loing it will be before you are served. Backs onto the canal so gardens very busy on a hot day/evening.

I went here yesterday 23.06.12, it was very busy, The Stella was a good pint and the food was good, Its a typical Hungry Horse pub set by the side of the Canal a short walkaway from Hillmorton Locks.
First time in this pub as I am new to the area.
The place was clean and tidy, Staff were pleasant and there is plenty of carpark space.
There is a Childrens play area outside that is secured and away from the canal and also tables and chairs on the towpath.
They have lots of meal deals on the menu. I cant wait to revisit and try the two sunday roasts all you can eat for a tenner.
We have been looking for somewhere to bring the mother-in-law when she visits us, this may be the place.
This place is not a posh Michelin Star Restaurant so dont expect fine dining, its a typical pub grub Hungry Horse and I enjoyed it. The steaks tasted, looked and smelled gorgeous.
Well done The Old Royal Oak.

Almost what you expect from a hungry horse pub. Sticky tables, cold horrible food although very good value if you get a warm meal. Been in this hillmorton pub loads of times sometimes ok and sometimes horrible. Last time i went in with my missis at lunch time she was ill all night and wé cancelled à night out. Steer away from the microwaved lasagne. Does have à Nice atmosphere and good service on a plus side.
