Great location, and fantastic "ye olde British pub" type of style which I love.

We just stayed for one night as we were visiting friends, and my wife heartily recommends the breakfast.

All the staff were brilliant, thanks folks.

However, the room really didn't inspire us at all. Smelt a bit musty, the furniture looked like it came from a car boot sale, and the bathroom almost had me ringing for a change of room. The shower cubicle had badly repaired tiles with sharp edges, paint that was flaking off the ceiling, and grout that had mould on it.

I took my partner for an evening dinner and were genuinely wowed from start to finish. We had both been there before and had been relatively unimpressed, nothing bad just nothing amazing. However they must have had new management in because everything was just perfect.

we had the most wonderful evening at this lovely pub/restaurant, it was a saturday night and although we had not booked we were given a nice table for the two of us, escorted to it within a few minutes of enquiring if they could seat us for what was to turn out to be a wonderful evening. the food, drinks and atmosphere was spot on. We felt so welcome, one of the things that really impressed me was that we could hear each other as the music was at a suitable volume, it did not drown out peoples conversations. The choice of food and drinks was great, staff were so very helpful and polite, easy to chat with. overall a wonderful place to visit and enjoy.

Visited this pub/restaurant 2 years ago (approx) and although it was ok it has improved beyond recognition. There is a new manager and it shows ! The staff are happier, the food was excellent in choice and quality and twice the size of portion previously. Even the drinks have improved. Try the Tiger beer from Leicester and the Kopperberg cider (strawberry and lime) as recommended by Steve the manager. A great choice. I is a very busy place but we were given great service and nothing was too much trouble. Very pleased and we will be back soon.

Having been to the Dun Cow on many occasions as we live not too far, the standard of service has declined over the months. The bar staff most of the time just the one, is rushed of his/her feet, while there is a queue of thirsty customers. It is not uncommon to wait over 20minutes to be served and the thought of having a second round, lets not go there.

The tables are often left uncleaned with other dinners plates and empty glasses. Table tops are often very sticky so be careful if you rest your elbows, you may tear of your sleeve !

It would appear that they are more interested in low staff count and poor service whilst trying to maintain high margins.

We used to be regular customers but have now decided to abandon the Dun Cow in favor of other local pubs.

Whilst this review may sound damming, i'ts the truth and annoying, as this used to be an excellent pub -- but no more.

IF YOU ARE THIRSTY GO ELSEWHERE !
