“Excellent Sunday Dinner”
Reviewed April 9, 2013 via mobile

Recently visited this restaurant with friends for Sunday dinner. Was busy when we arrived but we had made an reservation. It's small but enough room and provides a cosy atmosphere. The staff and management where friendly. There is a bar however it does not stock draught beer, but apart from that enough choice at reasonable prices. We opted for the roast dinner and between us had the beef and the lamp. Portion size was generous, but what prompted me to write this review, was the quality, especially of the meat, we all agreed was very flavoursome and tender.

Reviewed April 6, 2013

well i did say i would go back & i did
this time i booked a table for 4 on a Tuesday night fairly quiet but food had to be given top marks
by all four of us we all had starters mains & deserts which never happens and we all cleared our plates (also trying each others )
the staff were just as good as the food and the wine selection is not to be sniffed at

“Food great but service shocking, won't go again!”
Reviewed April 4, 2013

Went here on a Saturday night in a group of 4, with a reservation for 8.15pm. We arrived & were told that they had a large group in who still hadn't left so they were running a bit behind, we had a drink in the bar area which was very crammed but we didn't mind too much as the barman was good banter. We saw the large group leaving 10 mins later, but we weren't seated for another hour!

We ordered food while in the bar area so when we were finally seated our starters came pretty much straight away, however we waited another hour for our main courses! This is simply not on, and by this time it was so late in the evening that the restaurant was more than half empty, so there was no excuse. We had to ask for the bill a few times, and when it came the waiter said he'd knocked off the 2 peppercorn sauces (£1.50 each), our side orders (we didn't order side orders, when they arrived we assumed they automatically came with the mains), and also 1 coffee, but this was ordered as a dessert substitute for 1 of the diners who chose the 3 course set menu but was too full for the dessert. So basically they took off £3 from the total bill, some apology! By the time we got to the pub opposite for after drinks, the lights were on & last orders had already been called.

The restaurant itself is very quirky inside, so makes an interesting change, and the food couldn't be faulted it really was great with an interesting menu. The staff were friendly and helpful, but service overall was shocking. There are many other reviews saying the same, so I really don't think I'd go back because our experience obviously wasn't a one off. Shame!

“Yet again fantastic.”

This is our local eatery, and we love it.
Both myself and my Fiance' love the atmosphere and the friendliness of the staff. The manager is attentive and entertaining, combine this with gorgeous food and you have the making for a fantastic night out.

“Fabulous Food, Slow Service”
Reviewed March 25, 2013

Visited this restaurant with my partner and friends on Saturday evening. We were booked in for 8:15 and on arrival we were told as there was a big table still in the restaurant they were running a bit behind and we were shown to the bar. Lots of other people were waiting in the bar too so it was a bit cramped but not an issue. The guy on the bar was very friendly and we didn’t mind waiting for a little bit. We saw the big table of people leave around 10 minutes after we had been standing in the bar, but it took a further 30 minutes from this point for us to be seated! The waiter took our food order whilst we were still standing in the bar and once seated the starters came out pretty quickly.

The food was delicious and cannot be faulted and the waiter was very attentive but not overly so. After finishing our starter it took 1 hour from this point for the mains to come out which is excessive for 4 main courses and the restaurant was not particularly full by this point as it was now about 10pm! Again, the food was outstanding but the long wait for it put a bit of a sour taste in my mouth. 3 of us ordered from the a la carte menu and my partner ordered from the Farriers Fayre menu which included a dessert. After the main he was too full for a dessert so instead chose to have a coffee with amaretto in its place which the waitress said was not a problem. We had to ask for the bill twice and when it came the waiter explained that he had included the coffee as a dessert as we had waited so long for our food. This made no real difference to our bill as we were expecting this anyway as the dessert had been paid for and would have cost more than the coffee anyway. The waiter also explained the sides that accompanied the mains would be free of charge, as they were not ordered by any of us this again was no real solace. We would have preferred for a starter or a main to be deducted or something like that but we still happily paid and left a tip as the food was lovely and we'd still had a great night.

Overall, the food is superb and diverse, the restaurant itself is very quaint and cosy and the waiters/waitresses are very friendly, but prepare for a long night of waiting around.
