“Great value budget hotel”
Reviewed April 30, 2012

If you are looking for a budget hotel with easy access links to the A1(M) & Newcastle this is a the place for you. It has everything you need for a short stay. Although the decor may be a bit dated, the most important thing is that the place is very clean and tidy. Huge comfy bed with extra bedding in a larger than expected room. Free Wi-Fi, TV, kettle, hairdryer all worked fine. Great shower, plenty of hot water and lovely big towels. I arrived very late, so it was nice to find that there were still ample parking spaces available and someone on reception. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. I had a great night’s sleep as there was no problem with road noise. I was too late to use the bar and didn't eat in the restaurant but the menu looked good and reasonably priced. Will happily stay here again when I'm on my travels, especially at the price of £49, which I didn't wasn't too bad at all considering I only booked it the day before I arrived.

Decent Budget hotel, I wanted lots of hot water, a bath and a decent shower, a cosy bed, WiFi and a bit of quiet. It ticked the boxes for me on this trip, a stopover on my way to Scotland.

My room had an enormous and very comfy bed with extra pillows and blankets available. Free WiFi was fine. The shower was hot and powerful, double glazing kept the noise of the A1 out. Easily controllable heating. Large white towels.

I needed an extra plug socket and the TV wasn't properly tuned.

The Holiday Inn next door wanted £69 for a room that was pretty similar. I paid £45 for this room

The room was a little cramped and cold, but fairly clean. The beds were clean and comfortable. The hotel was busy and seemed a little under-staffed.
We ate in the restaurant, but were told that the advertised menu was "not available Saturday night", so we had to order from the more expensive a la carte menu. The food was reasonable, but, for what it was, a little over-priced.
The breakfast, by comparison, was very good. A wide selection of cold items and the cooked breakfast was cooked while you waited .... not stored under a heat lamp.

All in all, a good value budget hotel.

This is a low quality hotel, but good for a stop-off if you are looking to stay over en route to somewhere else... or if quality is not your major concern. It is very similar to a motel, it is basic in decor and amenities. The staff are friendly enough and the access to the motorway and then up to Newcastle or Sunderland is great. It is not luxury, but at this price what is to be expected? The rooms are large, but basic. The bathrooms are very basic and the general feel of the place is cost reduction. Needs a lick of paint but on the whole it was a decent place to sleep. Allows dogs, bar is good. Breakfast very good.

Very nice hotel with good value for money. Rooms have all necessary amenities and are clean enough. You can put a heater for a desired temperature. Internet is for free and available in the room as wifi.
They have very good kitchen - you can eat a good food there and in the morning you can eat traditional Full English Breakfast.
Generally hotel has all basic things necessary for business stay

Room Tip: Good for business stay

Arrived very late (1 AM) at night so great to have someone on duty 24 hours and the check in was quick and efficient. Good sized room and very clean but was freezing as the heater in the room had not been turned on. I can applaud the fact they want to save energy but not heating unused rooms but if they are expecting someone they could at least turn the heating on! On a small electric heater so it took a while to heat the room up - still cold when I went to bed about 2 hours later. Nice and warm by the morning though. Good location and easy to find. Good continental breakfast.
