This hotel is right on the A1M motorway just South of Gateshead/Newcastle. It is ideal to visit places in the North East.
Whilst there are no leisure facilities, the restaurant and bar meals are excellent. The main plus though is the friendliness of the Hotel Staff. They all made me very welcome.
The only negative is that there is no free WiFi access.

Terrible reception service, hairs all over the bed, pillow and bath, room had a lingering smell of cigarettes, couldn't get through to reception or room service on the phone and the restaurant food was possibly the worst I've had in a long time. Will stay at The Premier Inn next door next time.

Plus points - very close to the A1M and easy to find. Good breakfast - may be buffet or table service depending on guest numbers. Well heated (too well for some I suspect!) and clean.

This is more a business hotel than a holiday hotel but it is quite adequate for a night or so and is not too expensive. The rooms are on the small side but the beds are comfortable.

Downsides:- The TV in the room was very old with a poor picture. On arrival in our 'executive' room (ie one with bathrobes) the hot water wasn't! - this was however rapidly corrected by the staff "boiler had blown out" We were short of a bathrobe which was speedily delivered but should have been there in the first place. All smacking of poor quality control.

Because it is so close to the A1M it may be noisy for some people, but we did not find the noise a problem.

The restaurant seemed very pricy for what was on offer - we went to the local 'Toby Inn' after looking at the menu prices. The food may well be very good but it would need to be at the prices charged.

Front car park was fine but when full the road round to the rear car park was full of potholes.

Room Tip: DON'T pay extra for an executive room !

This was a points break stay for us but in no way were we made to feel like second class citizens as have experienced in some hotels.
Conveniently placed for the A1 on a long journey or we had great fun exploring the local area.

Adequate Holiday Inn buit they have to do something about the heating /cooling.
Arrived with outside temperature at a comfortable 10 deg C. Hotel had all radiators on in corridors therefore stuffy. Rooms had a/c in them but they are preset and only blow warm air. You can't open the windows as it is next to the A1 and even with them shut the poor quality of them lets noise in. You are therefore in in uncomfortable environment - the opposite of what you need.
Time to upgrade this one.

This hotel offers good value with easy access to Newcastle. The reception and bar/lounge areas are pleasant with good atmosphere. Most of the rooms are modern but avoid level 4. These rooms, whilst clean, are somewhat tired and need updating, although the bathrooms are fine. The breakfasts are well worth the small extra charge of £5pp if booked in advance. There is plenty of choice and just about everything you could ask for.The staff are friendly and efficient .The hotel will not win any prizes for its looks from outside and the road approach to the overspill car park needs its many potholes filling. However, overall, this hotel usually offers very good value for money compared to Newcastle centre .

Room Tip: Easy and quick access to Newcastle

Have stayed here dozens of times on business as PC member, and find the hotel OK, rooms are typical of Hi`s (old Post House hotels) ilk.
I use room service all the time and the food is tasty and filling. The bar is on the small side and gets rather crowded if there`s football on TV.
Its more a business hotel than holiday makers hotel, due to its location, but if you have a car then its OK for leisure too. All in all its fine.
