This is a perfect flat for 2 couples or 2 friends. 2 double bedrooms, comfortable lounge with small dining area, full kitchen with all amenities (including dishwasher), great shower in bathroom (over bath), nice outdoor space to enjoy warmer days/evenings and WiFi too. Santana was very friendly and welcoming, lives close by and as she reiterated, only a mobile call away.
The flat is perfectly located. There is a large, friendly pub apps 5 minutes walk away that also serves food. As you turn the corner from Tadema Road onto the main (Mowbray) road, you have a view of the sea. Further on from the pub is the famous, award winning Coleman's Seafood Temple, which also has a takeaway option. Fabulous restaurant, amazing design, with seaviews. If you love a cocktail and oysters, don't miss it! In the main town, on Ocean Road, is the original fish & chip shop and takeout too.
Lovely pedestrian path along the sea into town, or along the Promenade, with a host of pubs, cafes and other eateries.
On the doorstep is also a bus service into town, with a superb metro (rail) service for exploring further afield (Newcastle, North Shields [links to Tynemouth with its Priory ruins] Sunderland and more). The metro also links directly to Newcastle airport.
South Shields is a gem. So much to do for all ages. It is both a traditional seaside resort, but also offering a fantastic leisure centre, theatre, several parks (South Marine Park is lovely, complete with steam train circumnavigating the park), boating lake with ducks etc, children's play areas, seating and a lovely cafe. There are shops of course, a seafront funfair and even a small museum. By no means least, one of the most important historical finds in the country, Arbeia Roman Fort - well worth exploring...and it's FREE ADMISSION!!! There is also a cafe and public conveniences too.
Apart from all this, welcome provisions were provided in the form of bottled water, soft drinks and milk in the fridge, plus croissants!
I would not hesitate to recommend this flat. Go stay!
