I stayed at the Ramada for three nights for work when hotels near the centre were too booked out. I thought the hotel was excellent for business travel, the staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was great. I thought the drive into Guildford centre in the morning would be busy but it only took ten minutes and was a lovely scenic start to my working day. I would definitely stay there again and recommend this Ramada hotel to anyone.

I stayed one night in this hotel which was one night too many for me and my colleagues. The staff were rude and unhelpful at check out one of them made a mistake on the computer and let out and audible "oh [--]!" in front of guests waiting to check out. The public areas are dirty and in desperate need of some TLC. The rooms are shabby - when I arrived in mine there was only one sheet of toilet paper left on the roll and it smelt damp. The really low spot however was the food. Dinner mostly consisted of the leftovers from lunch re-heated and served with some meat or fish. When I asked for a ham or prawn sandwich instead of the hot lunch (chicken, green beans and last nights potatoes or the same salad as the day before with a new option of sloppy rice salad) they gave me egg and salad plonked between two slices of bread and told me it was cheese! How it ever gained its four stars from the ETB I will never understand.
Come on Ramada Jarvis you can do SO much better. So the hotel needs a little upgrading no-one would deny that. But with attention to detail i.e. cleaning and employing a proper chef, smartening up staff and insisting that they are polite, helpful and smile etc etc the shabbiness would be forgotten.
My colleagues and I were really glad to leave.

This is a superb hotel for its class. It is the best business hotel I have stayed in in this country for its rating. The rooms are large, well appointed and exceptionally clean.

The restaurant is good, but expensive. The same food is 15% cheaper per dish in the bar than the restaurant. The bar has a good atmosphere and the staff are very polite. I like this place a lot as it is modern internally but with external character. Guildford is 15 min away, Leatherhead about the same. The staff on the front desk are great, the parking is free. Ask for free upgrade as they usually do during the week. Rates are good, the breakfast is full English and very well cooked. It is simple, effective, cozy, well laid out and clean. Rates are good, and I think there is nothing better in the area.

Me, my boyfriend, sister, her husband, my cousin and his wife, all went on a trip to Thorpe Park and as a part of the package we booked into the Ramada. We had a triple room, twin room and a double room between us. The rooms were spacious and had everything you needed. The beds were extremely comfy. we eat in the hotel and had a barbecue dinner which was gorgeous too. I really enjoyed the hotel we all have a fantastic long weekend there, Thorpe park was amazing

Pleasant and helpful staff who seemed to come mainly from the Southern hemisphere. Good food in the restaurant. Decent no frills hotel.

Our 2 night trip was centred around a visit to Thorpe Park.

Interestingly the hotel came up on the Thorpe Park website as a package price, BUT we saved loads of money booking the hotel direct and getting the park tickets online separately.

Now, the thing you need to know about this hotel is the drastic variation in the room quality. As a company, they must had decided to invest in partial refurbishment of the bedrooms and sensibly decided to start with the smaller basement bedrooms.

We started out in one of these rooms. It was small, but lovely! Very nice decoration, large bed, quality fixtures and fittings, albeit with that basement feeling. We settled and after a long day of traveling and some fun at Chessington Zoo really fancied a soak in a hot bath....... but then realised there was NO BATH! A gorgeous bathroom, with spacious shower cubicle. No worries we thought.... we will ask to be moved to a room with a bath.

The Receptionist, Leigh, was very pleasant and instantly moved us to a room with a bath. Up to the first floor room we went, then we chuckled to ourselves because the price we paid to enjoy a bath was a drastic drop in quality. It was like going back in time.

The room was much larger, so felt better in that respect and don't get me wrong it was clean........ but just very dated.

We enjoyed our soak in the bath and admired the terrible plywood bathroom, with cracks to the base of the bday, the dead flies in the ceiling lamp, crumbling grout and mould spores forming on the walls.....

On the plus side the bed was really comfortable. So comfortable in fact, we missed breakfast both mornings so cannot comment on that.

We did have dinner in the hotel on one evening though. There was a respectable, yet simple Table d'hote menu included in the DBB rate or you could use a £22 allowance on the a la carte menu….. we went for this and zapped it straight away on the Fillet Steak, served with sautéed potatoes & mushrooms with a thyme jus. It was mediocre. Nothing really bad with it, nothing really good with it. The starters were pretty similar really.

The young girl that looked after us needs some time invested in her. She was a diamond in the rough, but her English and food service knowledge was poor and she was obviously a bit uncomfortable that meant any sparkle she had in her personality was well and truly suppressed.

The restaurant was a bit weird really, tired and too fussy.

Okay, in summary the Ramada Jarvis in Guildford was fit for purpose as it was an ideal location for visiting Chessington Zoo and Thorpe Park. The rooms whilst clean, are inconsistent…..! You will either get a gorgeous newly refurbished room with a pokey basement feel to it and no bath, or an unrefurbished tired and cheap room that is spacious and bright with a bath!!

There was a fabulous pub called the Duke of Wellington, just down the road. The staff were so professional and friendly with a really well priced and varied pub menu. There was a really welcoming and casual environment. The food we had was great, so I would recommend you eat there in the evening!
