Not the sort of food and service that we have come to expect in the uk. On the contrary both were faultless.
My wife and I were visiting the area for the olympic road cycling events and after the disorganisation and chaos of LOCOG it was great to see such a brilliant example of teamwork as the staff coped brilliantly with an unexpected Sunday night rush.
Perfect evening!!

Went this evening with my partner, we both had the evening Sunday roast, which I was informed left over from the lunchtime ( the pub closes in the afternoon ) not impressed, two roast potatoes, per person, not very hot and expensive at £15 each, staff were very attentive, but I think this pub has some serious overheads, won't return

We are very sorry to hear of your dissapointment on your visit to The Plough. We pride ourselves on very high standards offering freshly prepared food seven days a week. On Sunday's we offer a reduced menu as our restaurant suppliers deliver Monday - Saturday, two roasts being part of the menu.
With regard to this incident, which we have taken very seriously, I was informed by the manager on duty of a complaint which we felt was dealt with in a proper manner & appropriate action taken. We were also led to believe that you were happy with the conclusion, if not please do not hesitate to contact me.

We have been going to The Plough for many years and under Jason Buttery the pub has flourished. However the steadily increasing prices coupled with smaller portions are going to make many regular customers look elsewhere for better value. Youngs special is now over £ 4 a pint and the cheapest house wine close to £ 18 a bottle. The food is still good, although not as good as a couple of years ago, and the staff friendly and efficient but the prices are getting silly.

We are sorry to hear of your dissapoinment with The Plough, Effingham. Young's Special is £4.05 & wines start at £16.75 a bottle.
World commodity prices were stable from 1997-2007 & currently very volatile, reflected in food prices in super markets, pubs & restaurants.
For over a decade we have aspired to provide fresh restaurant quality food at reasonable prices & feel we are competitive, we are constantly monitoring market prices for our monthly changing menus.
Regarding portion sizes & quality of the food had you made a complaint at the time we could have dealt with it but can do nothing in retrospect. We try to ensure every table is checked & hope that every visitor has a good or great meal at The Plough.
Once again all I can do is apologise for your ordinary visit & assure you this was not our intent. Our aim is to make sure everyone leaves having had a good time, good food & value for money.
