Description: Hampton Wicks The Foresters, situated on the High Street, brings a splash of Parisian style and Brooklyn charm to the traditional neighbourhood pub-restaurant. The wonderful dcor, incorporating open fires, cosy leather sofas and exposed brick walls meet with a no-children-under-ten policy to create a sophisticated, grown up feel thats still fun thanks to Sunday evenings Big Quiz (with a 50 cash prize), a regular geeky games nights, featuring all your favourite classic board games, live music performances on a Saturday as you dine, and a generally relaxed, convivial atmosphere created by both staff and guests. The Foresters modern British menu changes every month, the chefs skills and imagination supported by seasonal produce fresh from the market, allowing for delectable daily specials. The kid of local most Londoners must dream of finding, The Foresters, with its Sunday roasts and friendly feel, well stocked bar and blackboard offerings, is a real must-visit pub. Children must be over the age of 10 to dine in this restaurant.

“Service levels unacceptable”
Reviewed January 14, 2013

We have previously enjoyed this pub - it sets high standards and charges for them (it's not cheap) but that's fine! But they must delver. We recently aborted an intended lunch because of unacceptably slow service. If they had not got adequate staff available they should not have sat us down and taken our drinks order. Around us were diners clearly waiting for their food. And after we had been there for 15 minutes without our food order even being taken let alone delivered we saw why. A shame. This is potentially a good up-market establishment. But they must tick all the boxes.

“Great roast, terrible service!”
Reviewed January 13, 2013

We went to the forester's for my birthday in early November. The first problem was finding anywhere to park, even though it was a Sunday, after driving around the area for 5 minutes we had to go to central Kingston and walk back.

Externally and internally the pub seemed very nice, the main reason for picking it after all.

We arrived early and wanted to get a drink outside first, instead of being served the waitress said ok, and then answered the phone for 5 minutes. We had specially booked a table out of the way and instead were placed on the main thoroughfare which didn't help the ambience.

We ordered a Camembert to share for a starter and two roasts for our mains.

The starter took a long time to arrive especially considering there were only five other tables and was disappointingly small, although it was cooked well and the garlic rubbed bread was very nice.

The roast again took a while to arrive and was extremely well cooked and tasty. Again, the portions weren't particularly large.

We decided as everything took so long we'd not get a dessert as we'd been there ages already and staff continually brushing past us had got tiring.

Perhaps if it was quieter and the portions were larger, we'd go back as the food tasted excellent.

“Avoid the hassle of Kingston and eat better too”
Reviewed January 6, 2013

Our son lives near by and we booked in for 7 of us one Saturday in November, we live in an area of excellent gastro pubs in Cambridge so were not expecting such an excellent range of well cooked lunches. After 2 years of the eating in Kingston and the queues and unsatisfactory service we really enjoyed the excellent service and individual style of the Foresters and have returned. We aim the ultimate challenge in a few weeks when we take my discerning but disabled mum so will need to park near by....will let you know. Far cheaper than the chains by the river in Kingston and better food too, 7 of us ate and drank for the same as 4 of us in Browns and the waitress was lovely. Like them on Facebook and you get updates.

“No parking anywhere near, and children not welcome”
Reviewed December 22, 2012

Based on the reviews, we decided to drive 30 minutes to go here for lunch. Problem 1: Good luck finding ANYWHERE to park. The entire neighbourhood is "resident parking only", except for a handful of 1hr spaces just outside the pub. So eat fast! Problem 2: They told us no children allowed. Soooo... avoid this place if you're driving, or if you have children.

“Charming pub, a home from home”
Reviewed December 16, 2012 via mobile

I've just made my second visit to this pub, this time for a Christmas meal with friends. The service was courteous but a little slow and the food was nice but not spectacular. Despite this, I had a really enjoyable visit as this pub is full of character and nicely decorated for Christmas. The atmosphere is very relaxed and comfortable at the Foresters, just as it should be! A firm favourite.
