We have been to the Bengal Lounge on a number of occasions, but stooped going after a terrible meal about a year ago. We decided to give it another chance and booked a table for 3 for a late Saturday evening. The place was packed when we got there. we were seated immediately at a table that had no cutlery, napkins or wine glasses. At every opportunity during ordering drinks and food we asked for the cutlery and napkins, but they never came. When the food came out the waiter just walked off. We called another over and again asked for cutlery which he then went and got, but had to do this twice as he forgot the serving spoons. Other tables around us were having an equally bad experience wirh wrong food and drinks orders, and their food being dropped on the floor. Insult to injury was the staff constantly pampering a table of 4 whilst everyone else in the restaurant went without the basic essentials and had to keep trying to catch a waiters attention
The standard of food is hit and miss. Some times OK, other times dry and bland. The rice has a funny taste to it, almost like detergent. Friends have also commented on this.
Overall an Ok place for a middle of the road takeaway, but for a resaurant that came in the running for the curry awards last year, it's surprising they fall apart when it's a busy service and the standards take a nose dive. Farnham has so much better than the Bengal Lounge
