“All customers deserve the same service”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 6, 2012

We have been to the Bengal Lounge on a number of occasions, but stooped going after a terrible meal about a year ago. We decided to give it another chance and booked a table for 3 for a late Saturday evening. The place was packed when we got there. we were seated immediately at a table that had no cutlery, napkins or wine glasses. At every opportunity during ordering drinks and food we asked for the cutlery and napkins, but they never came. When the food came out the waiter just walked off. We called another over and again asked for cutlery which he then went and got, but had to do this twice as he forgot the serving spoons. Other tables around us were having an equally bad experience wirh wrong food and drinks orders, and their food being dropped on the floor. Insult to injury was the staff constantly pampering a table of 4 whilst everyone else in the restaurant went without the basic essentials and had to keep trying to catch a waiters attention

The standard of food is hit and miss. Some times OK, other times dry and bland. The rice has a funny taste to it, almost like detergent. Friends have also commented on this.

Overall an Ok place for a middle of the road takeaway, but for a resaurant that came in the running for the curry awards last year, it's surprising they fall apart when it's a busy service and the standards take a nose dive. Farnham has so much better than the Bengal Lounge

“Hit & Miss”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 24, 2012

My first experience at the Bengal Lounge wasn't very good, it was very busy and I was elbowed in the back by a waiter instead of saying "excuse me please", I was waiting to be seated!. The food is okay, but nothing special. The place doesn't have a huge amount of atmosphere. Price is competitive but I would advise booking on Friday and Saturday just in case it is busy, you never can tell. Parking is good as they have space at the back. They do have takeaway service but you do have to wait around for it. We have stopped going there, whilst some of the staff are very friendly, others are just blatantly rude, you do have to check your bill.

“Great Indian Food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 14, 2012

We all (5 adults) went to the Bengal Lounge as a 65th birthday treat for me. There was another party of 10 or so there but they soon finished and we had the olace to ourselves. Other than the economic climate I just can't uderstand why, the whole meal was excellent and not expensive. There is a great choice and their mixing of food and spices is wonderful. We have always had a good meal in there, I still wish it was a pub though!
