“Outstanding level of service.”
Reviewed June 11, 2013

I've stopped at several of the pubs in Farnham when looking for a place to relax while traveling on business. None had me making a return visit like the Nelson Arms did. It's really nice when a bartender greets you when you walk in the door and bids you farewell and thanks you for coming when you leave. Not only do you get the traditional English pub atmosphere but you also get your choice of some great hand-pulled ales.

“Nelson's victory”
Reviewed May 20, 2013

Visited on a Monday evening. Good beer, old world atmosphere, open fire, pleasant service.
Try the chicken, ham and leek pie - it's really good and big enough for the hungriest traveller, and the accompanying mashed spuds were tasty too. They have real ales including Timmy Taylor's bitter, and they're kept correctly. What more could you ask for in an English pub?

I really recommend this pub and shall eat here again.

“noisy saturday evening”
Reviewed April 30, 2013

We went to the Nelson Arms as a family group for a Saturday evening meal . We had a table reserved for 7pm. When we arrived the table was not free as it was being used for people drinking until we arrived, and this was the same for the other tables, which made the pub really noisy. It was so noisy that it was only possible to talk to the person sat directly next to you, and not anyone else in the group. The food was quite tasty, but very slow coming, though to be fair they did say it would be slow. I wouldn't re-visit as it was really just too noisy - it looked as if most people there had already been there all day (hence being so loud) - Perhaps if we had gone for lunch our experience would have been different

“As good as ever....”
Reviewed April 30, 2013

I revisited the Nelson Arms last night for a meal and a couple of pints and found the atmosphere and service to be as good as ever. Admittedly it was a Monday and the bar was reasonably quiet, but the staff were friendly and attentive and the food served quickly, hot, tasty and with a smile. I couldn't have asked for better service or a nicer quiet night out. I was eating alone but never felt awkward and spent most of the evening chatting with the staff and the regulars.
This is a traditional pub with good food, great beer, friendly staff and patrons alike... Fully recommended!
