This used to be an absolute favourite with my children but the last visit was very upsetting in that the birds and other creatures were kept in dirty and unsuitable cages. It had the air of having seen better days and we were concerned for the welfare of the creatures there.

Thanks for your comments. Welfare is of the highest priority for all of our animals and we are disappointed that you feel this to be an issue. As a public zoo we are regularly inspected by zoo licensing authorities with expertise in animal housing welfare and management. We also have a dedicated team of staff who care passionately about the animals in their care.

It is unfortunate that you have been unspecific in your comments and would encourage you to contact us directly so that we may use any valid criticism constructively.

Could have done with some up-dating. Also seemed quite pricey - price covers '3 attractions' but what if you only want the one!

Went with my 7 year old daughter to the Halloween grotto which I have to say was very good. The actual park however, always feels very scruffy and unkempt. I have been visiting Birdworld with my three children over the past 15 years and it seems the same now as it was then - it is not cheap to get in and the cafe always seems a bit chaotic. Go on a nice day - there is not much to do undercover.

We went to Birdworld whilst visiting family and had a good day out. The park is clean and tidy with a small cafe and reasonable facilities. The birds and animals all looked well cared for and content. The site also has an aquarium attached which is small but the kids loved it. Definitely worth a visit.

The first thing we did when we arrived was stop at the cafe for a cuppa and a quick bite to eat. Unfortunately the cafe fare is rather uninspiring; a few tasty, home-made cakes and larger pots of tea wouldn't go amiss as a starter for ten.

Birdworld has a lovely variety of birds in a well-laid out park. There's certainly plenty to interest kids and adults alike and lots for budding protographers to take photos of. Outback Landing is lovely, as you can walk into the enclosure with the birds and they swoop past your head! Penguin Island is new and brings you in close proximity with the penguins - a perennial favourite.

There didn't seem to be much to see at the Jenny Wren farm but I suspect that's due to the time of year I visited and the fact that it was a cold day. I have visited Birdworld once before on a lovely summer's day and there were lots of things to pet at the Jenny Wren farm then.

Birdworld has numerous swings, slides, etc. dotted around the park, plus features like 'The lost trail' so plenty to keep young kids amused if they want a break from the birds.

Underwater World is a real let down. It's very run down inside, with narrow passages and tanks so high on the walls that young children can't see a thing unless they're picked up all the time.

All in all Birdworld is a good day out. They're clearly spending money on the park because decent new features have been introduced but there's still a lot that's tired about the place.
